AccdbMerge

AccdbMerge — Free Download. Compare and merge Microsoft Access database files
AccdbMerge is a diff and merge tool designed for Microsoft Access database files in MDB and ACCDB formats. It enables comparison and selective import or export of database objects and data between two files, supporting schema synchronization, programming objects, and data records. The application is compatible with Access versions from 2007 through 2024, including Microsoft 365, and offers a free edition with limited sessions alongside a standard edition featuring a perpetual license and a 14-day trial period.

  • Schema and object comparison and merging. AccdbMerge analyzes two Access files and presents a side-by-side view of their structures. Users can select specific objects such as tables, relationships, queries, forms, reports, macros, modules, and references to compare definitions and apply changes selectively between the files.
  • Batch Data Diff. This function compares large volumes of data between tables in two databases. It processes record-level differences, identifying new, deleted, or modified rows, and provides options to synchronize data in a controlled manner without creating duplicate entries.
  • Custom Data Diff. Enables comparison of tables or queries by defining field mappings. The user specifies a mapping key type and processes at least one field to establish relationships between non-identical structures, facilitating comparison across different schemas.
  • Support for password-protected files. The application can open and process Access files that are protected with passwords. Credentials can be saved within project settings to streamline work with files used repeatedly.
  • Processing of compiled .MDE and .ACCDE files. AccdbMerge works with compiled formats, though with specific limitations: modules, forms, and reports are not supported for comparison in these files. Other objects such as tables, relationships, queries, and macros can be analyzed and merged.
  • Specialized query comparison. A dedicated function for comparing queries is accessible from the toolbar. It allows defining key fields to identify rows within queries, detect new or modified records, and manage differences with precision.
  • Index and relationship management in structure differencing. From the table structure comparison window, users can view and merge differences in indexes and relationships between tables. This ensures that referential integrity constraints and optimized search criteria remain consistent across databases.
  • Command line interface (CLI) support. AccdbMerge supports operations via command line arguments. This functionality enables automation of diff and merge processes, integration into scheduled workflows, and execution of repetitive tasks without manual intervention.
  • Project diff viewer mode. Allows opening AccdbMerge projects in a diff viewer mode, facilitating change review by development teams or database administrators. This mode provides control over system clients and how discrepancies are displayed.
  • Granular object selection for comparison. During the comparison process, users can individually select or deselect objects to include. The interface displays complete listings of tables, relationships, queries, forms, reports, macros, modules, and references, granting detailed control over each element.
  • Configuration storage for protected files. When working with databases that require authentication, the tool allows storing credentials associated with a project. This reduces the need to repeatedly enter passwords during successive sessions with the same files.
  • Support for multiple Microsoft Access versions. The application is built to function with Access 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, 2021, 2024, and Microsoft 365, ensuring stability in updated environments without requiring additional adaptations.

Development of AccdbMerge began as a specialized solution addressing the need for version control and change merging in Microsoft Access databases, an area with limited options in the market. The tool was created by a team of developers with backgrounds in software engineering and relational databases, focusing on resolving synchronization challenges between .mdb and .accdb files. From its first stable release, the product has maintained continuous evolution oriented toward technical precision. AccdbMerge is programmed primarily in C#, utilizing the .NET framework to ensure efficient connectivity with Access database engines and to provide a consistent interface on Windows operating systems. The first functional version dates to 2014, and since then capabilities such as command line operations, support for compiled files, and advanced custom data differencing methods have been incorporated, consistently maintaining focus on structural integrity and precision in information transfer between databases.
