Development of AnyVidWall started in 2023 by Aryan Mewada, an independent developer based in India. The project emerged from the need for a lightweight animated wallpaper solution that would not degrade performance on older computers. The codebase is written entirely in C++ using the Qt framework for the graphical user interface and FFmpeg libraries for video decoding. The first public release appeared on GitHub in early 2024 and has since received contributions from the open-source community. Aryan Mewada Studios maintains the official repository and handles bug reports.
