  • Integrated shape library. Boxshot includes over 50 pre-defined, ready-to-use 3D shapes. These shapes cover categories such as packaging, publications, electronic devices, and containers. Each shape functions as a base template that is customized with specific dimensions, proportions, and materials.
  • Graphic art application. This feature allows you to wrap 2D images around the surfaces of 3D models. Designs in formats like PNG, JPG, or PDF are precisely mapped onto the object's faces. The system adjusts for perspective distortion and maintains the resolution of the applied graphic.
  • Detailed geometric configuration. Every dimensional parameter of a model is editable. For a box, you can define the height, width, depth, material thickness, and edge corner radius. Changes are reflected in real-time in the scene preview.

The development of Boxshot began in 2008 by Romaco GmbH, a software company based in Switzerland. The development team specialized in graphic tools for the packaging and product presentation industry. The first public version was released in 2009, focused on the visualization of boxes and packaging. The program's codebase was written in C++ with the Qt framework for a cross-platform interface. The rendering engines use OpenGL for the preview and a custom ray tracing system for final image generation.
