The development history of Keyboard Sounds Pro began as a project to offer a more comprehensive alternative to existing keyboard sound applications, such as MechVibes. The developers, a team of independent programmers, identified a lack of features like mouse support, per-application rules, and real-time audio effects in other software. The first version of the program was created to fill that gap and was officially released in 2025.
