  • Patch Mode. Enables distortion-free extraction of a defined area from a panorama for external editing. After modifying the extracted patch in an image editor, the software automatically reapplies it to the original spherical projection non-destructively, allowing for precise removal of tripods or unwanted elements.
  • Skin Editor. A graphical drag-and-drop interface for designing navigation controls, buttons, pop-up panels, and interactive overlays. It supports responsive design logic, allowing the interface to adapt to different screen sizes and device orientations while incorporating functions like scene switching, audio control, and information display.
  • Tour Map Integration. Allows embedding of floor plans, custom maps, or Google Maps to provide spatial context. User interactions with map markers are directly linked to scene navigation, enabling viewers to change their location within the tour by clicking on the visual representation.
  • Animation Paths. Facilitates the creation of automated camera routes that guide viewers through a sequence of scenes. The animation can be paused for manual exploration, and the entire walkthrough sequence can be rendered and exported as a standard video file.
  • Directional Sound. Adds audio sources that change volume and spatial positioning based on the viewer's gaze direction within the 360° environment. This feature creates immersive soundscapes or attaches audio commentary to specific visual elements.
  • Gigapixel & Multi-resolution Support. Optimizes display of ultra-high-resolution images by dividing them into tiles. The viewer loads only the tiles required for the current view and zoom level, ensuring smooth performance and detailed inspection without excessive bandwidth or memory usage.
  • Google Street View Publishing. Provides functionality to edit and publish virtual tours directly to the Google Street View platform, allowing users to enhance or complete visual data hosted on Google's service with tools from Pano2VR.
  • Droplets. Automated batch processing utilities. By dragging panorama files onto a droplet icon, files are processed with preset parameters, generating multiple projects or outputs systematically without launching the main application interface.
  • Built-in Web Server. Includes a local server for immediate preview of the final HTML5 output in a web browser. This allows for accurate testing of interactive behavior and cross-device compatibility before uploading files to a production server.
  • Live Update. When activated, any saved modification to the project—such as text changes, hotspot adjustments, or image replacements—is instantly reflected in any open browser preview window, streamlining the refinement process.
  • 360° Video Processing. Extends functionality beyond still images to include spherical and cylindrical video footage. Interactive elements like hotspots and scene transitions can remain active during video playback, maintaining engagement throughout the experience.
  • WordPress Plugin. An official extension that integrates Pano2VR projects into WordPress sites. Tours, panoramas, and object VR sequences can be embedded using blocks or shortcodes without requiring manual code insertion.

Development of Pano2VR began in 2003, initiated by Thomas Rauscher, founder of Garden Gnome Software based in Vienna, Austria. The software was initially created to convert panoramic images into QuickTime VR and Macromedia Flash formats. As web standards evolved, the application transitioned to HTML5 and WebXR output.
