• Metadata management from Comic Vine. YACReaderLibrary connects to the Comic Vine online database to retrieve information about series, issue numbers, authors, and covers. The data is automatically assigned to the files in your library.
• Reading progress system. The application records the last page read for each comic. A "Continue reading..." banner on the main view allows you to resume reading from where you left off.
• Library filtering and sorting. The library allows filtering comics by status (read/unread), tags, rating, or date. Sorting can be done by title, series number, date added, or publication date.
• Server support (YACReaderLibraryServer). A server component enables remote access to your libraries. It allows synchronization of reading progress between different instances of the viewer and access from mobile devices.
• Cover customization. Users can assign custom images as covers for folders or individual comics. This feature allows dragging and dropping images or selecting files, even in bulk for multiple items.
• Keyboard shortcuts and configurable controls. All main actions have customizable keyboard shortcuts. Page navigation can also be configured with mouse clicks on screen areas or with specific buttons.
• Export and integration with other applications. Settings allow opening comics in external applications via custom commands. Includes a terminal command to get information about the system and supported libraries.

The YACReader application began its development in 2009 by Luis Ángel San Martín. The project started as a comic viewer for Linux, later expanding to other platforms. The application code is primarily written in C++ using the Qt framework for the graphical user interface. YACReaderLibrary and the server component also use these technologies. The first public version was released in 2010.
