AltSendMe is a cross-platform desktop application for peer-to-peer file transfer that uses Iroh to send files and directories over the Internet. It does not require user accounts and performs direct transfers between sender and receiver. All traffic between endpoints has end-to-end encryption using QUIC + TLS 1.3. • Cryptographic identifiers. Use of 256-bit node IDs for device identification. Identifiers are generated using cryptographic functions and are unique to each instance. This system prevents conflicts and impersonation on the network.
• React interface. Graphical interface development using React technology and modern web components. The interface architecture separates the presentation logic from the transfer core. Dynamic real-time updates of transfer status.
• CLI compatibility. Joint operation with the Sendme command-line tool. The same protocols and data formats allow interoperability between interfaces. CLI users can exchange files with graphical interface users.

The development of AltSendMe began in 2023 as a graphical interface implementation for Iroh technology. Tony Antony created the project to provide a visual alternative to existing command-line tools. The application is built primarily with TypeScript using the Electron framework for the desktop component. The integration with Iroh is implemented through specific bindings that expose the network functionality. Development continues with the addition of features while maintaining compatibility with the Sendme ecosystem.
