  • Processor performance optimization. This function adjusts running process priorities to favor active applications over background services. It reduces system latency during demanding tasks such as video editing or code compilation. Includes foreground boost activation and increased system timer granularity, improving overall system responsiveness.
  • Telemetry and privacy management. Blocks multiple Microsoft telemetry domains and disables data collection services including DiagTrack and dmwappushservice. Removes scheduled tasks that send diagnostic and usage reports. This function prevents the operating system from transmitting hardware information, installed software, and browsing habits, preserving user confidentiality.
  • Advanced GPU and graphics settings. Modifies registry parameters to reduce graphics command chain latency and disable hardware-based video scaling when unnecessary. Allows prioritizing 3D performance over visual quality in desktop applications, increasing frame rates in games and simulations without requiring additional hardware.
  • Unnecessary services and components control. Disables system services such as Windows Search, Print Spooler (when no printer exists), Xbox Live Networking, and Touch Keyboard. The function identifies services consuming RAM and CPU cycles without providing value to the end user. Each disabled service frees resources and reduces system attack surface.
  • Preinstalled bloatware removal. Scans and removes Microsoft Store applications including Xbox Console Companion, Spotify, TikTok, Candy Crush, solitaire, and other preinstalled packages. Also removes OEM-specific applications from manufacturers such as Dell, HP, or Lenovo. The function verifies the AppxPackage list and allows removing multiple applications in a single operation.
  • Power plan optimization. Configures the power plan to High Performance or Ultimate Performance depending on Windows version. Adjusts hard disk turn-off times, selective USB suspend, and sets minimum processor state to 100 percent when the computer runs on AC power. Reduces micro-stutters caused by power state changes.
  • Scheduled maintenance tasks management. Disables automatic maintenance tasks including SilentCleanup, Windows Disk Diagnostic, Regular Maintenance, and others that run background processes without user intervention. Removes tasks that start antivirus scans or defragmentation during high workload periods, providing full control over when these operations execute.
  • File Explorer and menus acceleration. Applies registry changes to reduce dropdown menu display time, remove right-click delays, and disable window animations. Reduces menu delay from 400 to 50 milliseconds. Also disables preview display and thumbnail view icons for folders with many files, speeding up navigation.
  • Temporary files and system junk cleanup. Integrated tool that removes Windows Update caches, memory dump files, error reports, browser temporary files, and recycle bin contents. The cleanup uses the same targets as the native Disk Cleanup tool but with greater depth, reaching folders such as Prefetch, LogFiles, and Temp from multiple users.
  • Startup applications and delayed services management. Displays all startup entries from the registry, startup folder, and Task Scheduler. Allows selectively disabling applications such as OneDrive, Teams, Adobe Genuine Monitor, or any other process that starts with the system. Also converts automatic services to manual or disabled based on user profile.
  • Taskbar notifications and elements control. Disables news and interests widget, search button, Task View button, Teams chat, and widgets feed. Also removes Meetings section from the popup calendar. This function reduces visual distractions and bandwidth consumption associated with background content updates.
  • Network configuration and P2P updates disabling. Blocks the Delivery Optimization feature that uses user bandwidth to distribute updates to other computers. Sets upload and download limits to minimum possible values and restricts traffic to local network. Reduces data consumption on metered networks and prevents saturation of slow connections.
  • User Account Control management. Adjusts User Account Control level to not dim the desktop when showing notifications. Disables mandatory lock screen and password prompt when waking the computer. Allows running administrative tasks without constant interruptions while maintaining basic operating system security.
  • Unused language packs and language features cleanup. Scans and identifies language experience packages that have never been used, removing them from disk. Frees between 200 MB and 1.5 GB of storage on installations with multiple languages. Also removes spelling dictionaries and speech resources for languages not in use.
  • Complete restoration of all original settings. Uses the backup stored in the application directory to revert all modifications made since first execution. Restores services, scheduled tasks, registry values, bloatware status, and power configurations. This function returns the system to its previous state without requiring Windows reinstallation.

The development history of OptimizerDuck began in 2021 as an internal project of a small team of three systems engineers. The first public version launched in March 2022 as a console-based PowerShell script. During 2023 the team completely rewrote the interface into a graphical desktop application. The primary programming language is C Sharp with .NET 6.0, using Windows Forms for the graphical interface and direct calls to the registry API through interop. The developers are based in central Europe and the project maintains quarterly releases.
