  • Capture eyedropper. The main tool that allows you to select any color visible on the computer screen. It is activated by dragging the eyedropper icon from the program interface to the desired pixel and releasing the mouse button.
  • Automatic clipboard copy. The code of the selected color is immediately transferred to the system clipboard. This action eliminates the need to manually copy the result.
  • Magnifying glass display. Shows an enlarged view of the screen area where the cursor is positioned. The magnifier helps to accurately select a specific pixel among small-sized graphic elements.
  • Variable zoom levels. Allows you to adjust the magnification factor of the magnifier view. Zoom levels can be changed to examine fine details or to get an overview of the selection area.
  • 3x3 and 5x5 average sampling. Functions that capture the average color of a 3x3 or 5x5 pixel matrix. These options are useful for determining the overall tone in areas with gradients or anti-aliasing, avoiding outliers from individual pixels.
  • RGB to Hexadecimal conversion. Converts color values from the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) model expressed in decimal format to their hexadecimal representation. The conversion process is automatic after color capture.
  • HTML Hex code format. Generates the color code in the standard format used in CSS style sheets and web markup languages, preceded by the number sign (#).
  • Delphi Hex code format. Produces the specific hexadecimal notation used in the Delphi development environment, employing the '$' prefix characteristic of this language.
  • PowerBuilder code format. Creates the hexadecimal representation required by the PowerBuilder development tool, adapting to its particular syntax.
  • Visual Basic Hex code format. Delivers the value in the format recognized by Visual Basic (classic and .NET), using the '&H' prefix to denote hexadecimal numbers.
  • Visual C++ Hex code format. Provides the code in the syntax used in the Visual C++ language, which uses the '0x' prefix for hexadecimal values.
  • Color history. Maintains a record of the last colors selected during the current session. The history allows you to quickly reuse a color without needing to perform a new capture.
  • Complementary palette of 42 colors. Displays a fixed selection of 42 colors considered basic or websafe. This palette offers a quick reference for selecting common shades.
  • Snap to websafe function. Modifies the captured color to the nearest value within the websafe color palette. This palette consists of 216 colors that displayed consistently on 8-bit monitors.
  • On-screen pixel measurement. A function that measures distances on the screen when the Control key is held down while using the eyedropper. It calculates the difference between the horizontal and vertical coordinates of the start and end points.

Color Cop was created by an individual developer and initially published in the 2000s. The program is written in C++ for the Windows operating system.
