Colour Picker — Free Download. Color code identification
Colour Picker is a software application designed for accurate color code identification and management. The tool allows you to capture any color visible on the computer screen and obtain its values in various formats. The magnifying glass facilitates precise positioning over the desired pixel. Values are presented in hexadecimal, RGB, HSL, and CMYK formats. The integrated palette saves selected colors for later access.

  • Color picker with magnifying glass. The main function allows capturing colors from any point on the screen with an enlarged zoom for pixel precision. As the cursor moves, the magnifier shows an enlarged view of the area under the pointer, making it easier to accurately select the desired color. The system uses high-resolution screen capture algorithms to ensure color accuracy.
  • Multiple color formats. The application simultaneously displays color values in hexadecimal, RGB, HSL, CMYK, and HSV. Each format is presented with its corresponding numerical values, allowing you to copy any format individually. This feature is essential for different design and development workflows.
  • Customizable color palette. Users can save selected colors in custom palettes for specific projects. The palette displays color swatches with their corresponding codes and allows you to organize them by dragging. Palettes are exported in formats compatible with design software.
  • Conversion between formats. It instantly converts values between different color systems. When manually modifying any numerical value, the other formats update automatically while maintaining color equivalence. The process uses precise mathematical algorithms for lossless conversions.
  • Advanced color picker. Includes a fine-tuning panel with sliders for RGB, HSL, and HSV components. The controls allow you to modify individual values in increments of one unit. The change is immediately reflected in the main color sample.
  • Recent colors history. The tool maintains a chronological record of the most recently selected colors during the current session. The history shows up to 20 colors with a selection timestamp. History items can be retrieved with a single click.
  • Value export. Allows copying color values to the clipboard in CSS, LESS, SASS, and XML formats. The export includes correct syntax for each programming or style language. Export templates are user-configurable.
  • Color comparison. The function displays two or more adjacent colors for visual evaluation of contrast and harmony. The tool automatically calculates the contrast ratio according to WCAG standards. The results indicate compliance with accessibility standards.
  • Color harmony generation. Creates complementary, analogous, triadic, and tetradic color schemes from a base color. Each scheme shows five harmonious colors with their corresponding values. The generated schemes are exported as complete palettes.
  • Color name detection. Identifies approximate English names for selected color values, based on standardized color name databases. The match is calculated by proximity in the RGB color space. The function assists in palette documentation.
  • Brightness and saturation adjustment. Independent controls to modify brightness and saturation while maintaining the base hue. Adjustments are applied using reversible HSL conversion algorithms. Changes are visualized in real-time.
  • Configurable color profiles. Support for sRGB, Adobe RGB, and DCI-P3 color spaces with conversion between profiles. Color management ensures consistency across different display devices. Custom profiles are loaded from ICC files.

Colour Picker was developed by Brighter Tools as part of its suite of utilities for digital professionals. Development began in 2018 using the C# language with .NET Framework. The architecture employs native Windows APIs for screen capture and color processing. The color conversion engine implements algorithms standardized by the International Color Consortium.
