  • 10-band graphic equalizer. Lets you adjust specific audio frequencies using predefined bands. Each band covers a frequency range that can be boosted or attenuated according to the user's preferences. The adjustment range is from -20 dB to +20 dB per band.
  • Equalization presets. Contains predefined settings for different music genres and situations. The presets include options such as Rock, Pop, Classical, and Voice, optimized for each type of audio content.
  • Stereo balance adjustment. Controls the balance between the left and right audio channels. This feature is useful for correcting playback imbalances or adapting the sound to personal preferences.
  • Support for multiple output devices. Detects and lets you select different audio devices connected to the system. The app keeps equalization settings independent for each device.
  • Mono mode. Combines the stereo channels into a single mono signal. Designed for situations where compatibility with mono audio systems is required or for mix testing.
  • Gain control. Adjusts the overall output volume before equalization is applied. Prevents distortion by compensating for the volume increase produced by certain equalization settings.
  • Real-time spectrum analysis. Visually displays the frequencies of the audio being played. The graphical representation helps identify frequency ranges that need adjustment.
  • Settings retention. Automatically saves your settings when the app is closed. On restart, it restores the last configuration used, including presets and custom values.
  • Compact interface. Minimalist design that shows only the essential controls. All main settings are accessible from the main window without additional menus.
  • System-wide compatibility. Works at the operating system level, affecting the audio of all applications. No individual configuration is needed for each program that plays sound.
  • Volume monitor. Indicates the current output level with a visual meter. Provides immediate feedback on changes to equalization and gain.

The first version of eqMac was developed in 2015 by Roman Kisil. The app is written mainly in Swift and TypeScript, using native macOS frameworks for audio processing. Version 2 was a complete rewrite of the codebase, released in 2020 with improvements in stability and functionality. Development continues with regular updates that add features and fix issues.
