  • Default browser selector. Linklever sets itself as the default browser in the operating system, intercepting all link clicks before deciding which actual browser should open them.
  • Multi-browser manager. The application automatically detects all browsers installed on the machine (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, etc.) and allows assigning specific rules to each.
  • URL-based rules. Create custom conditions that determine which browser should open certain links based on URL patterns, domains, or specific paths.
  • Application-based rules. Configure which browser should be activated depending on which application is in use when a link is clicked (e.g., Slack vs. Outlook).
  • Advanced URL filters. Modify links before they open: remove tracking parameters, force HTTPS connections, process Microsoft Teams Safelinks protected links.
  • Browser extensions. Official extensions for Firefox and Chrome allow manually redirecting specific links to other browsers when necessary.
  • Transparent notifications. Shows system alerts indicating which browser was selected for each link and which rule was applied, keeping the process verifiable.
  • Guaranteed privacy. All processing happens locally on your device - no browsing information or personal rules are transmitted to external servers.
  • Cross-platform support. Native versions available for the three major desktop operating systems with interfaces adapted to each environment.
  • Granular configuration. Detailed settings to handle special cases such as PWA application links, PDF documents, or custom protocols.

Originally developed in 2019 as an internal tool for technical teams working with multiple browsers simultaneously, Linklever evolved into an independent product in 2021. It is programmed mainly in Rust for the link processing core, with graphical interfaces in Electron to ensure cross-platform compatibility. The team maintains a monthly update cycle with security improvements and new filtering capabilities.
