TimeBolt

TimeBolt — Free Download. Remove silence and edit podcasts
TimeBolt is desktop software that speeds up the editing of podcasts, interviews, and video calls by automatically detecting and removing silences, pauses, and filler words. The program analyzes the audio waveform and allows you to cut or speed up inert segments in single or multi-track projects, exporting the result directly to platforms like Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Camtasia, or rendering a standalone file.

  • Automatic silence detection. TimeBolt locates fragments without significant audio based on a configurable decibel threshold. The user defines the sensitivity level and the minimum duration of silence; the software selects the regions and removes them in seconds, compressing hours of recording into minutes.
  • Filler word removal (Umcheck). With a paid account, the Umcheck feature automatically identifies and removes filler words like "uh," "um," or repetitions. The editor can review each occurrence and decide whether to keep or remove it with a single click.
  • FastForward (scene acceleration). Instead of cutting, the user can speed up the passage up to 4x. This mode preserves visual continuity when the visual content is relevant but the audio contains pauses.
  • Sculpt (variable speed preview). The sculpt tool allows playing back material up to 4x while visualizing the waveform. During playback, the user marks segments they want to keep or discard, generating a rough cut interactively.
  • Punch In (dynamic framing). The operator can right-click on an area of the frame to apply a smooth zoom to that point during playback. The feature directs the viewer's attention without needing to create keyframes manually.
  • Markers for social media. Markers can be placed at specific moments on the timeline. TimeBolt exports these markers as chapters or uses them to generate short clips optimized for Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok.
  • Specific editing for Zoom and video calls. The software recognizes the structure of Zoom recordings and similar tools. It automatically applies cuts during each speaker's pauses and generates a summarized version with smooth transitions between speakers.
  • Multi-track video support. TimeBolt works with projects containing multiple synchronized video tracks (e.g., multiple cameras). Cuts made on the main track are replicated on the secondary ones, maintaining sync without additional intervention.
  • Multi-track audio support. For gameplay editors, the tool ignores the game's background audio and acts only on the commentary track. This way, the narrator's pauses are removed while the game's soundtrack remains intact.
  • Automatic transitions. When removing silences, the program can automatically insert effects like crossfades, pixelation, or wipes. These transitions smooth out the cuts and prevent abrupt visual jumps between scenes.
  • Direct export to NLE. Once editing is complete, the user can send the project to Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Camtasia, maintaining the cut structure as markers or edits within the professional editing software's own timeline.
  • Standalone rendering. TimeBolt can generate a final video or audio file without relying on third-party applications. The internal rendering engine supports H.264, H.265, and Apple ProRes codecs, with or without a watermark depending on the license.

Development of TimeBolt began in 2017 by a small team of engineers based in the United States, focused on post-production solutions for podcasters and content creators. The application is written primarily in C++ to ensure high performance in audio and video signal processing, complemented by Python scripts for the user interface and integration with external APIs.
