Honeycam is developed by Bandisoft, a software company based in South Korea. Bandisoft is primarily known for its file archiver Bandizip. Honeycam was first publicly released in the year 2014, initially as a lightweight tool for creating animated GIFs. The first stable version included basic capture and frame editing functions. Over time, the development team added support for WebP and WebM formats, video filters, chroma key, and collage. The primary programming language used to write Honeycam is C++, with elements of the Qt library for the graphical interface and native Windows code for high-performance screen capture.
