OpenClaw

OpenClaw — Free Download. AI Assistant executes real actions
OpenClaw is a personal artificial intelligence assistant that runs on the users devices and operates directly from messaging applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, or iMessage. Unlike conversational chatbots, OpenClaw is designed to execute concrete tasks: manage email, calendar, bookings, control local devices, write code, open pull requests, or interact with the operating system. The assistant maintains persistent memory, runs background tasks via cron, and can communicate by voice.

  • Autonomous code execution. OpenClaw can initiate Claude Code or Codex sessions, run unit tests, detect errors via Sentry webhooks, fix bugs, and open pull requests without manual intervention. The assistant iterates on results and continues until the objective is met.
  • Physical device control. The assistant manages local hardware: Winix air purifiers, Raspberry Pi, Mac computers. It can turn equipment on or off, monitor biomarkers from WHOOP, and adjust environmental parameters according to defined rules.
  • Persistent contextual memory. OpenClaw remembers conversations across different channels (Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Signal). Memory remains active 24/7 and is transferred between agents like Codex, Cursor, or Manus. The assistant relates thematic threads separated by time and platform.
  • Email and calendar management. The assistant clears the inbox, drafts and sends emails, schedules appointments, checks availability, and manages reminders. It can claim medical reimbursements, search for relevant documents, and attach them automatically.
  • Automatic extension creation. OpenClaw writes its own skills. When faced with an unsupported request, the assistant generates the necessary code, saves it as a skill, hot-reloads it, and executes it. The entire process happens within the chat.
  • Airline billing and travel integration. The assistant performs automatic flight check-in, searches for programmatic flights via a CLI terminal with multiple providers, and locates documentation for medical or travel expense reimbursement.
  • Digital asset construction. OpenClaw generates functional websites, personalized meditations with voice synthesis and ambient sound, curates favorite articles, and publishes to WordPress directly from Telegram.
  • Telephone voice interaction. The assistant makes voice calls to the user via ElevenLabs, with configurable accent, and can hold spoken conversations on macOS, iOS, and Android. It also transcribes and summarizes content from YouTube videos.
  • Scheduled background tasks. OpenClaw executes jobs via cron, heartbeats, and reminders. It can proactively initiate actions without waiting for an explicit instruction, such as daily reports, traffic checks before leaving, or periodic productivity analyses.
  • Task manager access and control. The assistant integrates with Todoist, creates tasks, organizes them, and automates complete workflows. OpenClaw can build an integration skill from scratch if prior connectivity doesn't exist.
  • API manipulation and credential provisioning. OpenClaw opens the browser, accesses the Google Cloud Console, configures OAuth, and provisions API tokens by itself. It detects the absence of keys and requests or self-manages them.
  • Personal knowledge base synchronization. The assistant indexes and queries local files, Obsidian notes, university documents, and study assignments. It can summarize, search, and act upon the content of the user's second brain.
  • Cross-platform messaging compatibility. OpenClaw operates on WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, iMessage, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Slack, Matrix, BlueBubbles, Zalo, and Zalo Personal. The same instance responds indistinctly from any of these channels.
  • Interactive real-time canvas. The assistant renders a user-controllable canvas where data, processes, or active workflows can be visualized. This Canvas is visible and modifiable during execution.

OpenClaw was created by Peter Steinberger (@steipete) and initially published under the name Clawdbot, later Moltbot, until adopting the OpenClaw designation. Development began in 2024 and the first public version appeared in January 2025. The program is written entirely in TypeScript on Node.js, with specific modules for native integration with macOS, iOS, Android, and embedded Linux environments like Raspberry Pi. The architecture separates the control plane (Gateway) from the assistant core, which resides entirely on the user's equipment.
