PasteIntoFile

PasteIntoFile — Free Download. Paste clipboard directly into files
PasteIntoFile is a Windows desktop application that enables users to paste clipboard contents directly into files, copy file contents to the clipboard, or replace files with clipboard data using hotkeys or the context menu. It supports numerous image, text, and other formats, includes a preview feature, autosave mode, and more. The tool eliminates intermediate steps when saving content: it bypasses opening specific applications to paste, selecting folders manually, and typing filenames, while preserving transparency and animations in compatible formats. With PasteIntoFile, clipboard contents are pasted directly into files through the Windows File Explorer context menu or global keyboard shortcuts. Similarly, file contents can be copied to the clipboard without opening the source file. The program can monitor the clipboard and automatically save or append content to a file, folder, or ZIP archive as items are copied (batch processing).

  • Paste from clipboard to file. Executes the primary action of taking the current clipboard content (text, image, file list, metafile, HTML format, etc.) and saving it directly to a physical file at a specified location, with the option to choose filename and format manually or via predefined masks.
  • Copy file to clipboard. Reads the content of a selected file (image, text, etc.) and places it onto the system clipboard in the appropriate format, allowing the content to be pasted into other applications without opening the original file.
  • Replace file with clipboard data. Replaces the content of an existing file with the current clipboard information, preserving the original filename and location while updating its content with the new data (text, image, etc.).
  • Windows Explorer context menu integration. Adds specific options to the context menu of files and folders in Windows Explorer (e.g., "Paste Into File", "Copy File to Clipboard", "Replace with Clipboard") to execute actions directly without opening the main interface.
  • Global keyboard shortcut (Hotkey). Allows defining a key combination that, when pressed at any time, executes the clipboard-to-file function using preconfigured parameters (destination folder, name format, and file type).
  • Clipboard content preview. Displays an up-to-date preview of the current clipboard content (text, images, file listings) in the main window to verify the data before saving.
  • Autosave mode. Activates a mode that, every time new content (image, text, etc.) is copied to the clipboard, automatically saves it to the predefined folder and format without additional manual intervention.
  • Batch mode. Continuously monitors the clipboard and saves each newly copied element as an independent file (numbered or timestamped) in the destination folder, ideal for capturing multiple successive images or text fragments.
  • Clipboard patching. Enables pasting current clipboard content into files using conventional methods (Ctrl+V or context menu "Paste") within the file explorer, redirecting the paste operation to create a file instead of attempting to paste inside a folder.
  • Filename format options. Configures masks for automatically generating filenames when saving (e.g., using date and time, fixed text, numeric counters, or combinations) to avoid prompting for a name each time.
  • Extensive file format support. Saves clipboard content in multiple extensions based on data type: images (PNG, GIF, JPEG, BMP, TIFF), text (TXT, HTML, Markdown, source code such as Java, Python, JSON, CSS, PHP, PS1, etc.), and office or compound formats (RTF, CSV, ZIP).
  • Manual destination format selection. In the main window, allows choosing among file formats compatible with the current clipboard data type (e.g., if an image is present, PNG, GIF, JPEG, etc., are offered), with the option to change the extension before saving.
  • Output directory configuration. Sets the default folder where files will be saved when using automatic or manual functions, with the ability to change it quickly from the interface or save in the same folder as the original file (in replace mode).
  • Windows startup execution. Includes a configuration option to launch the program automatically with the operating system and keep global hotkey or clipboard monitoring functions active.

Development of PasteIntoFile began in 2016. The primary developer of the program is known as eltos (GitHub user eltos). The application is written entirely in the C# programming language and is based on the .NET framework, specifically targeting the Windows operating system.
