Zero-setup folder browsing. Meva does not import or move files. Selecting any folder on the user's disk instantly displays all Markdown (.md, .markdown) and text (.txt) files within. It requires no workspaces, extension installations, or project definitions.
Native LaTeX rendering. Mathematical expressions written in LaTeX syntax are rendered correctly. This functionality is integrated directly into the application, requiring no external plugins and ensuring proper display of academic and technical content.
Mermaid diagram support. Flowcharts and diagrams defined with Mermaid syntax are generated and displayed as vector graphics within the document. This allows reading technical documentation containing sequence, Gantt, or class diagrams directly.
Syntax highlighting for 100+ languages. Code blocks within Markdown files are displayed with colors and formatting based on the specified programming language. Meva applies highlighting automatically, aiding readability of code snippets, configurations, or examples.
Auto-generated table of contents. The application generates a sidebar index based on the document's headings. Clicking any index entry scrolls the view directly to that section, enabling structured navigation through long documents.
Live file watching. Meva monitors opened Markdown files. If a document is modified by another application (for instance, while an AI assistant writes or the file is edited), the preview updates automatically in real-time.
Light and dark color themes. The reading interface includes twelve color themes (twelve in the Pro version, two in the free version). Switching between a light and a dark theme with a single click adapts readability to ambient lighting conditions.
PDF and HTML export. Documents can be exported to PDF or HTML format. This Pro version feature generates a standalone file preserving the visual style and layout, ready for sharing or archiving.
In-document search. Includes a text search function to locate specific words or phrases within the currently viewed Markdown file. Results are highlighted in the text for easy identification.
One-click code block copying. Each rendered code block includes a button to instantly copy its entire content to the system clipboard, eliminating the need for manual text selection.
Document statistics. The interface displays basic file information, such as word count, character count, and estimated reading time, providing additional context about the content's length.
Tab management. Allows opening multiple documents simultaneously in separate tabs (up to three tabs in the free version, unlimited in the Pro version), facilitating organized consultation of several files.

Meva is developed by an independent team and its first stable version was released in 2024. The program is built with Tauri, a framework utilizing Rust for backend logic and the operating system's native WebView for the interface. This results in an executable of approximately 15 megabytes and significantly lower memory usage compared to Electron-based applications.
