  • Infinite canvas. A limitless workspace to place, organize, and connect notes, sketches, and embedded elements. Continuous panning and zooming allow for extensive, non-linear information structuring.
  • Nested page tree. Unlimited hierarchical structure for organizing content. Each page can recursively contain subpages, establishing logical order and accessibility within the project.
  • Real-time collaborative editing. Multiple users simultaneously modify the same canvas, observing changes instantly. The functionality is designed for brainstorming sessions, technical reviews, or distributed teamwork.
  • Native Markdown blocks. Full support for Markdown syntax within text blocks, including code with syntax highlighting, lists, tables, and formatting elements. Writing and conversion occur within the editor.
  • Drawing and measurement tools. Sketching instruments including lines, geometric shapes, and freehand annotations. Measurement tools calculate distances and angles directly on the canvas for technical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Embed system. Integration of external content like Desmos calculators, CodePen environments, YouTube videos, and other web resources. Embedded elements are interactive and viewable within the note.
  • Drag-and-drop organization. An interface allowing reorganization of content blocks, pages, and canvas elements via drag-and-drop operations. The structure adjusts according to the user's visual arrangement.
  • Multiple view modes. Switch between free canvas view, linear document view, and hierarchical tree view. Each mode optimizes interaction based on the type of content being edited or reviewed.
  • Flexible export. Functions to export pages or entire projects in formats like PDF, Markdown, and image. Export preserves the hierarchical structure and basic formatting of the content.
  • Global search and filtering. A search engine indexing text across all pages and blocks. Filters allow restricting results by content type, modification date, or manual tags.
  • Automatic synchronization. Continuous saving and synchronization of changes to the cloud. Data is persistently stored and available from any device with access credentials.
  • Customizable keyboard shortcuts. Configuration of key combinations to activate tools, formatting commands, or navigation. Default shortcuts follow conventions from technical applications.

Development of Notanic began in 2020 as a project to create a note-taking tool combining the freedom of an infinite canvas with technical capabilities. The developers built the application using TypeScript and modern web technologies, with emphasis on canvas rendering performance and real-time synchronization. The architecture is designed to scale with large documents and multiple simultaneous collaborators. Regular updates incorporate new technical features and optimizations based on feedback from professional communities.
