Customizable interface. The layout of toolbars and panels can be adjusted to the user's needs. Specific elements can be enabled or disabled to adapt the workspace.
Layer support. Lets you organize drawing elements into independent layers. Each layer can have its own color, line type and visibility settings.
Precision drawing tools. Includes functions for creating lines, arcs, circles, ellipses and polygons with exact parameters. Coordinates can be entered manually to ensure accuracy.

QCAD was initially developed by RibbonSoft. The project began in 1999 as an open-source alternative to commercial CAD solutions. The first public version was released in October 2002. The core of QCAD is written in C++ with Qt for the graphical interface. Development later continued under the direction of Andrew Mustun, who maintains and updates the software. QCAD is available for Windows, macOS and Linux, with community and professional editions.
