Drawing Tools. The program includes a complete set of tools for creating geometric objects: lines, rectangles, rounded rectangles, ellipses, arcs, regular polygons, Bezier curves, splines, freehand lines, texts, text with line, walls, break lines, round sections and clouds. Each tool has adjustable parameters accessed via a dialog box using double-click or Option/Alt key.
Drawing Modes. Two drawing methods are configurable in preferences: "click and drag" for continuous object creation, or "click and click" for successive point definition. The Shift key constrains drawing, turning ovals into perfect circles and rectangles into squares. The Alt combination (Ctrl+Alt on Linux) activates direct parallel object tracing, while Ctrl removes object guides.
Geometric Construction Tools. RealCADD incorporates boolean operations for shape modification: cut, union and intersection of figures. Includes extend and cut functions, chamfer, fillet, cut and join parallel lines. Provides parallel tools, cutting tool, scissors, rotation tool, zoom, lasso for selection and hand to move the drawing or print page.
Object Attributes. The attributes palette modifies properties of selected objects: line color, line transparency, line thickness, dotted or double lines (with uninterrupted dot management for rectangles and polygons), exchangeable arrows, fill color, hatch or texture, fill transparency. Hatch and texture scale and thickness are numerically adjustable.
Snap Functions. The snap palette activates automatic snap functions: to grid, to object ends, to object centers, to intersections, to perpendicular and to tangent. Activation or deactivation occurs via palette click or keyboard shortcuts. Tapping a letter twice activates or deactivates all snaps. Snaps are modifiable during drawing, allowing start with some snaps and finish with others.
Coordinate Editing. The edit palette shows coordinates of the selected object, lengths, angle, perimeter (P =) and surface area (S =). Editable fields allow value modification using arithmetic formulas. Changes affect all selected objects. The palette indicates the number of selected objects, drawing scale and layer name, with button to activate that layer if not already active.
Layer Management. In Worksheet mode, layers are managed with default name, scale, color and transparency. Layers are hidden or shown (V), the active layer (A) receives new objects. Layers can be added or removed. Object selection is limited to the active layer or all visible layers. Drawing order is modified with Up/Down buttons or by dragging. Layer configurations allow multiple drawings in one file, where a modification on one layer is visible in all configurations.
Workbook Mode. In Workbook mode from File -> New -> Workbook, a drawing is managed like a book of pages all the same size as the print page. Only one page is visible and active (check box "A"). For printing, pages are numbered with Page Options at the bottom of the palette. Partial printing is done using check boxes "P", printing only marked pages without affecting numbering.
Dimensioning and Measurements. Dimension tools include single or multiple dimensions, angle dimensions, radius and diameter. The edit palette shows perimeter and surface area of selected objects. Dimensions are customizable in arrow type, text format and units. Dimension lines update automatically when the dimensioned object is modified.
Import and Compatibility. RealCADD reads and writes DXF files, imports images into drawings. Files are compatible with iPocket Draw for iPhone and iPad. Precision is high with professional dimensioning tools. Does not use paper space or model space, but a configurable drawing surface where drawing is done with selected scale, obtaining in print exactly what is seen on screen (WYSIWYG).
Contextual Floating Windows. The interface uses floating windows that unfold depending on context. The tools palette unfolds when the cursor hovers over it. When the cursor remains on an icon or button, a help window appears with usage hints and keyboard shortcuts. The "Esc" key corresponds to the arrow tool. These windows cannot be docked into the main interface.
Text Palette. The text palette shows the same options as the Text menu: font choice, text size, style (bold B, italic I, underline U) and alignment (left, center, right). Access is faster than via menu, and the palette shows all attributes of the last selected text or of the active Text tool.

Development history: RealCADD is developed by the CAD software team for Macintosh, following Apple recommendations. The program is not an AutoCAD clone ported from Windows, but a native application. Current version is 5.80. Development evolves regularly mainly at user request through the official discussion forum. The specific programming language is not publicly documented, but being a native Macintosh application in its origins, development is presumed in languages such as C++ or Objective-C.
