  • Application aggregation. Rambox allows you to add an extensive list of pre-configured web applications, such as Gmail, Slack, WhatsApp, Telegram, Trello, and many more. Each application runs in a separate tab, simulating a dedicated browser environment. Users can also define custom services by entering any URL, extending its functionality beyond the predefined list.
  • Unified notification center. All alerts and notifications from active applications are centralized in one place. The system shows icons in the system tray and counters on tabs to indicate new activity. The user manages notification permissions individually for each added service.
  • Focus mode. This feature temporarily hides non-essential application tabs, leaving only those selected as priorities visible. It reduces visual clutter and helps direct the user's attention toward specific tasks without logging out of other tools.
  • Cross-platform synchronization. By creating a free Rambox account, users save their workspace configuration in the cloud. This includes the list of added applications, their tab arrangement, and personal settings, allowing the same environment to be restored on other computers with the program installed.
  • Application and workspace manager. The interface includes a panel to enable or disable applications from the available list. Users can organize applications into separate workspaces, such as "Work," "Personal," or "Social," switching between them depending on the activity to be performed.
  • Tab hibernation mode. Tabs that are not in active use can be put into a hibernation state. This process frees up system resources like RAM and CPU by unloading the tab's content, reloading it only when the user clicks on it again.
  • Password-protected app locking. An additional layer of security is applied by locking access to specific applications within Rambox. To open a protected tab, the user must enter a pre-configured master password, useful for shared environments.
  • Custom JavaScript and CSS injection. For advanced users, Rambox provides the option to inject custom code into any added application. This allows modifying visual aspects with CSS or adding specific functionalities through scripts, customizing the behavior of web applications.
  • Quick global search. A search box or keyboard shortcut allows users to quickly search and switch between all open applications. It filters tabs by name, making navigation easier when many applications are active simultaneously.
  • Proxy and user agent usage. The application allows configuring proxy servers for the connection of all integrated applications. Additionally, each application can be loaded with a specific user agent, which makes it possible, for example, to load mobile versions of websites on the desktop.
  • Built-in spell checker. It incorporates a spell checker that works in text fields of integrated web applications. It supports multiple languages and allows adding custom words to the dictionary, improving writing in messaging and email services.
  • Configurable keyboard shortcuts. Rambox offers a system of hotkeys for common actions like switching between tabs, activating focus mode, or opening the search bar. Users can review and modify these combinations according to their preferences.
  • Session management. It allows logging out of all integrated applications at once, or managing credentials individually. This feature is relevant for maintaining account security when using the software on public or shared computers.
  • Interface themes. The application includes several visual themes, including light and dark modes, to customize the appearance of the main interface. The themes affect the tab bar and frames, not the content of the web applications.

The Rambox application was created by a developer known as Ramiro Saenz. Development began in 2016. The program is built using web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with the Electron framework, which allows creating cross-platform desktop applications using Node.js and Chromium. The first public version was released in early 2017.
