ReclaiMe

ReclaiMe — Free Download. RAID parameter recovery
ReclaiMe Free RAID Recovery is software for recovering RAID configuration parameters such as disk order, block size, and start offset. It works with RAID 0, RAID 5, RAID 10, RAID 01, RAID 6, RAID5E, and RAID with delayed parity. The tool processes hardware RAID disk sets, software RAID disk sets, and NAS devices from manufacturers including QNAP, NETGEAR, Synology, and Buffalo. It does not perform file-by-file recovery but generates a full array copy or a parameter set for use with other tools.

  • Disk order detection. This function identifies the correct sequence in which physical disks must be organized within the RAID set. Without proper order, data appears fragmented or unreadable. ReclaiMe Free RAID Recovery analyzes metadata signatures and block distribution patterns to automatically determine which disk occupies each position in the array.
  • Block size calculation. This function determines the amount of data written to each disk before moving to the next RAID member. Block size directly affects information distribution and read/write efficiency. The tool tests multiple common values (16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512 KB) and selects the one that produces a coherent reconstruction of the set.
  • Start offset location. The offset indicates the logical sector where user data begins on each disk, excluding areas reserved for RAID controller metadata. This function scans the first few megabytes of each drive to find where configuration information ends and the array's usable space begins.
  • RAID 0 (striping) recovery. For RAID 0 configurations that split data across two or more disks without redundancy, this function reconstructs the complete sequence of interleaved fragments. It requires knowing the order and block size. The software generates an image of the original volume, though any disk loss in RAID 0 prevents full recovery.
  • RAID 5 recovery. This function handles arrays with distributed parity that tolerate a single disk failure. ReclaiMe Free RAID Recovery calculates the location of XOR parity blocks and reconstructs missing data using the remaining disks. It works with left, right, asymmetric, and backward parity layouts common in Adaptec, LSI, HP, and consumer NAS controllers.
  • RAID 6 recovery. For dual-parity configurations (RAID 6 or RAID ADG) that tolerate two failed disks, this function locates both parity codes (P and Q). It uses Reed-Solomon algorithms to reconstruct data even when two array members are missing. Compatible with arrays of 4 to 16 disks.
  • RAID 10 and RAID 01 support. This function processes sets that combine mirroring and striping. For RAID 10 (mirror of stripes) and RAID 01 (stripe of mirrors), the software automatically detects the underlying structure, identifies mirrored pairs, and then assembles the striped sequence to produce a single image of the original logical volume.
  • RAID5E and delayed parity RAID handling. This function extends compatibility to proprietary variants such as RAID5E (RAID 5 with integrated spare space) and systems where parity is not written immediately after data. The software analyzes asynchronous patterns and reserved hot spare areas within the same disks of the array.
  • Full disk image creation. After determining RAID parameters, this function creates a .img or .dd file containing all assembled array data. The image can be mounted directly with tools like TestDisk to rebuild partition tables, or processed with file recovery software such as ReclaiMe File Recovery.
  • Parameter set export to text file. This function saves all detected values to a .txt file: disk order, block size, start offset, parity type, RAID level, and geometry. The file allows repeating the assembly on another machine or using the parameters with third-party tools including R-Studio or UFS Explorer.
  • NAS disk handling: QNAP, Synology, NETGEAR, Buffalo. This function recognizes data structures specific to embedded operating systems such as Linux MD RAID, LVM, ext4, Btrfs, and proprietary formats. It processes disks removed from NAS without connecting to the original device, even if they use non-standard disk order or hidden superblocks.
  • Software RAID compatibility (Windows and Linux). This function analyzes disks that were part of native software RAID: Windows Dynamic Disks, Linux mdadm, Apple Software RAID, and ZFS. The software identifies metadata stored at the beginning or end of each drive and extracts the configuration even when the operating system no longer recognizes the set.

ReclaiMe Free RAID Recovery is developed by ReclaiMe Lab, a division of SysDev Laboratories. The first version of the tool was released in the year 2012, focused exclusively on RAID 0 and RAID 5 parameter detection. The program is written in C++ with assembly components for fast XOR and Reed-Solomon parity calculations. The free version has been maintained since 2014 with regular updates to add support for new RAID levels and NAS systems.
