RisohEditor allows adding, editing, extracting, cloning and removing resource data in EXE, DLL, RC and RES files. The tool edits dialogs, menus, icons, cursors, string tables and message tables on Windows systems. Supports multilingual editing and must not be installed in paths containing spaces like C:\Program Files.

• Resource addition. Inserts new elements such as icons, cursors or dialog boxes inside an executable or linked library. The user can import external files and link them to the target resource without damaging the original PE file structure.
• Dialog editing. Modifies complete dialog windows including controls, sizes, positions and properties. Allows visual resizing of controls and changing texts of buttons, labels and input fields within the DIALOG resource.
• Resource extraction. Exports any embedded resource (icon, menu, string, bitmap) to an independent file on disk. This function facilitates reuse of visual or textual elements across different projects.
• Resource cloning. Duplicates existing resources within the same file or to another destination. Cloning preserves all parameters and allows creating resource variants for different languages or configurations without starting from scratch.
• Safe resource deletion. Removes unwanted resources from an executable or library. The process validates integrity of the resulting file and prevents corruption of the resource table through prior verification.
• String table editing. Manages STRINGTABLE blocks containing up to 16 strings per block. Modifies identifiers and texts of each entry, useful for localizing applications or correcting runtime error messages.
• Message table editing. Manipulates MESSAGETABLE resources used by functions like FormatMessage. Allows adding, modifying or deleting numbered messages with their respective format strings and severity codes.
• Menu editing. Modifies main menu and submenu structure. Changes item texts, command identifiers, check marks and states (enabled/disabled) using visual editor based on RC templates.
• Cursor and icon editing. Replaces cursor and icon images across multiple resolutions and color depths. The tool preserves original formats (ICO, CUR) and respects standard Windows sizes.
• RC and RES file support. Compiles and decompiles resource files in text (RC) and compiled (RES) formats. Converts between formats, allows advanced textual editing and recompilation while maintaining valid syntax for windres.
• VS_VERSION_INFO version editor. Modifies version information blocks (FileVersion, ProductName, CompanyName). Edits language and character set structures with validation of fixed and variable StringFileInfo sizes.
• Accelerator management. Creates and modifies keyboard shortcut tables (accelerators) associated with menu commands. Assigns key combinations, VIRTKEY or ASCII flags, and duplicate control.

RisohEditor was created by Japanese developer Katahiro Kizaki (katahiromz). Program development began in the year 2017. The application is written primarily in C++ programming language using Win32 API and MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes) framework for the graphical interface. The project is distributed under GPLv3 license and its main repository is hosted on GitHub.
