  • Applications as services. AlwaysUp turns almost any Windows application into a managed service. This includes console programs, scripts, web servers and applications with a graphical interface, without any changes to the original code.
  • Automatic restart. If an application crashes or closes unexpectedly, AlwaysUp restarts it. The program monitors your applications and takes corrective action when it detects a failure.
  • Event logging. AlwaysUp records start times, shutdowns and errors, so you can see what happened to your application and when.
  • Scheduling. Configure when your applications should run and when they should be stopped or restarted, for example on specific days or at specific times.
  • Dependency management. Define the order in which applications and services start. If one service depends on another, AlwaysUp can wait until the required one is running before it continues.
  • Email notifications. Receive an email alert when something important happens, such as a failure or a restart of your application.
  • Desktop interaction. Applications run by AlwaysUp can show their windows on the desktop of a logged-in user when needed, which is useful for programs that require a graphical interface.
  • Environment variables. Set custom environment variables for each application. They are applied when the application starts.
  • Custom user accounts. Run each application under a specific Windows account, either local or domain, instead of the account of the current user.
  • Command-line control. Manage your applications from scripts or the console, without using the graphical interface.
  • Resource monitoring. AlwaysUp can restart an application if it uses too much memory or becomes unresponsive. Limits can be set for each application individually.
  • Remote management. Applications can be started, stopped and monitored on other computers as well, which is handy for managing several servers.

AlwaysUp was developed by Core Technologies Consulting, a company specializing in tools for Windows system administration. It is a commercial product that has been actively maintained for many years and supports current versions of Windows, including Windows Server editions.
