CaDoodle

CaDoodle — Free Download. Local CAD design
CaDoodle is a local drag-and-drop CAD application for Linux (Arm, x86), Windows (X86), Mac (Arm, x86), and ChromeOS. User models are stored locally, and the application functions entirely offline. CaDoodle features a drag-and-drop interface compatible with TinkerCAD.

  • Drag and drop shapes. A design interface based on dragging and dropping geometric elements. Predefined shapes can be positioned in the workspace using this method.
  • Group and ungroup. The ability to combine multiple objects into a group to manipulate them as a single entity. The inverse operation separates the grouped elements.
  • Solid and hollow states. Objects can be defined as solid (material addition) or hollow (material subtraction) for basic boolean operations.
  • Undo operations. A history system that allows reverting previous actions during the design process, step by step.
  • Stretch and move handles. Interactive controls for modifying object dimensions and position through direct manipulation of control points.
  • Example library. A collection of predefined projects and components that serve as a reference or starting point for new designs.
  • Snap to nearest surface. A snapping system that enables precise alignment of objects relative to existing surfaces in the model.
  • Advanced boolean operations. Implementation of convex hull, intersection, and XOR operations for combining geometries.
  • Inkscape integration. Utilization of Inkscape as a sketching tool for creating complex 2D shapes that can subsequently be extruded.
  • Blender connection. Importing sculpted elements from Blender into the CaDoodle environment to incorporate them into designs.
  • OpenSCAD script support. The ability to use OpenSCAD scripts and models as geometry sources within projects.
  • BowlerStudio compatibility. Integration with BowlerStudio scripts to expand design and automation capabilities.
  • Gridfinity objects. Implementation of Gridfinity containers as native elements within the component library.
  • FreeCAD model import. Support for importing and working with models created in FreeCAD within the CaDoodle environment.
  • Cross-platform export. Functionality to export designs to STL, SVG, OBJ, Blender, and FreeCAD formats for use in other applications.

CaDoodle was created by a team of developers specializing in computer-aided design tools. The project began in 2020 as a local CAD software alternative to browser-based solutions. The program is written primarily in Java, enabling its cross-platform execution on major operating systems. The development focus has been on providing professional CAD capabilities while maintaining interface simplicity and local storage of user data.
