Keolot Phaser Editor

Keolot Phaser Editor — Free Download. Visual editor for Phaser games
Keolot Phaser Editor is a free visual development environment for 2D browser games based on the open source Phaser engine with integrated Matter JS physics. The application provides visual creation and editing of scenes, game objects, animations, audio, and keys, along with writing game logic in JavaScript with support for plugins and global scripts. The editor includes an interactive design surface where objects can be moved and added, zoom controls, coordinate rulers, and two preview modes: current scene preview (with debug physics and object inspection) and full game preview. A debugging console displays errors and warnings.

  • Visual scene editor. Allows adding, moving, copying, editing and deleting Phaser game objects including Image, Text, Sprite, Particles, Video, Rectangle and TileSprite. Navigation is done with mouse or interface controls, with zoom and coordinate rulers for precise positioning.
  • Object Inspector. Panel for setting parameters of game objects: X and Y coordinates, Angle, Opacity, Texture, Depth, physical properties, particle behavior (Lifespan, Frequency, Speed, Alpha), animation types, and audio settings.
  • Matter JS physics conversion. Image and Sprite objects become physical Matter bodies with one click in the Object Inspector. Parameters include Density, Collision Shape, Collision Category, Restitution, and Ignore Gravity.
  • Scene script editor. Enables writing custom JavaScript game logic. Dedicated sections exist for Init, Preload, Create and Update functions. Writing these functions inside Custom script causes them to be ignored, preserving the specialized sections.
  • Current scene preview mode. Runs the active scene with physics debug visualization. Game can be paused and resumed, objects can be interacted with, and parameters modified in the inspector in real time. Scene switching inside the game is not available in this mode.
  • Full game preview mode. Launches the complete game as it runs in a browser, without object inspection or pause capabilities. Suitable for testing scene transitions and final gameplay.
  • Debug console. Displays JavaScript messages, warnings and errors generated during game execution or preview. Aids in correcting logic mistakes or object configuration issues.
  • Animation management. From the inspector, animation types for sprites are selected and configured, controlling frames, playback speed, looping and associated events without manual animation code.
  • Audio configuration panel. Dedicated panel for adding and adjusting sounds or music. Properties include volume, looping, overlap control and triggering by scene events or object interaction.
  • Particle system editor. Detailed control of particle systems: lifespan, emission frequency, initial speed, rotation, scale, color, transparency and shape. Changes are immediately visible in the scene.
  • Project and game export. The entire project can be saved and packaged as a ZIP file. A separate ZIP containing the finished game is generated for launching directly in any browser without extra dependencies.
  • Global scripts and plugins. Global scripts affecting all scenes can be added, and external Phaser plugins can be connected to extend the editor's base functionality without modifying the core.
  • Debug physics mode. During scene preview, collision shapes, vectors, gravity areas and Matter body boundaries are visually displayed, facilitating adjustment of physical behaviors.

Keolot Phaser Editor was created by the Keolot team, a group of developers specializing in tools for HTML5 game engines. Development began in 2019 with the goal of providing a visual alternative for working with Phaser, eliminating manual coding of object and scene placement. The first public version was released in 2020. The application is written primarily in JavaScript (ECMAScript 6) and TypeScript, using the Electron framework for the desktop interface and Phaser as the underlying rendering engine.
