  • Multiple board layouts. The application includes numerous predefined tile tower layouts, each with different geometric arrangements that modify the game's complexity. The layouts vary in height, shape, and tile distribution, requiring different strategies for their resolution.
  • Visual theme selection. It allows changing the visual appearance of the tiles using different graphic sets. Each theme modifies the tile illustrations while maintaining pair identification, offering aesthetic diversity during the game.
  • Generation of solvable games. The game engine verifies that each generated game has at least one possible solution before starting. This function prevents irreversible deadlock situations during gameplay.
  • Scoring system and timer. It records the time elapsed since the first move and calculates the score based on the resolution speed. The results are stored to allow comparison with previous games.
  • Available tiles indication. Visually highlights the tiles that can be selected at any given moment, showing matching pairs when a tile is selected. This visual feedback helps in strategy planning.
  • Sound and effects control. Manages the sound effects associated with game actions, such as tile selection or removal. The configuration allows each sound type to be activated or deactivated individually.
  • Undo move system. Allows reverting previous moves sequentially, facilitating the correction of strategy errors. There is no limit to the number of moves that can be undone.
  • Removed tiles display. Shows a record of the tiles that have been removed from the board, allowing players to consult already eliminated pairs. This information helps keep track of progress.
  • Different difficulty levels. Offers configurations that alter the game's complexity by varying the number of tile types or the complexity of the layouts. The levels adapt to the player's experience.
  • Game saving and loading. Allows a game to be interrupted and resumed later using save files. The files store the exact state of the board, the elapsed time, and the moves made.
  • Game statistics. Collects data on the player's performance, including the number of games completed, record times, and win percentages. The information is presented in tables organized by board layout.
  • Shortcut commands. Assigns key combinations for frequent actions such as undoing a move, requesting a hint, or restarting the game. The shortcuts are customizable from the configuration.

KMahjongg was initially developed by the KDE Games team as part of their game suite for the desktop environment. Development began in the year 2024, being programmed mainly in C++ using the Qt libraries for the graphical interface.
