  • Individual adjustment per monitor. Monitorian detects each screen connected to the system and allows modifying its brightness independently. This is necessary in environments with multiple monitors where each requires different illumination levels.
  • Minimalist interface. The application shows a window with sliders for each identified monitor. The controls respond with immediate changes in brightness settings.
  • DDC/CI compatibility. Monitorian uses the DDC/CI protocol to communicate directly with monitors that support it. This allows hardware adjustments without relying on graphics drivers.
  • Configurable hotkeys. The tool includes options to assign hotkeys that modify brightness in predefined increments. The combinations can be customized according to operator preferences.
  • Brightness profiles. It is possible to save specific lighting configurations for different scenarios and load them when needed. The profiles store values for all active monitors.
  • Dark mode. The user interface adapts its color scheme based on the operating system settings. It includes support for light and dark themes on Windows 10 and 11.
  • Level indicator. Each slider shows the current brightness percentage in real time. Numerical values update during manual adjustment.
  • Automatic detection. The application recognizes when a monitor is connected or disconnected and updates its interface without requiring a restart. The controls appear or disappear depending on the device status.
  • Minimal resource usage. Monitorian operates as a background process with low CPU and memory consumption. It does not affect system performance during normal operation.
  • Portable installation. The software can run without installation using a standalone EXE file. It leaves no residues in the Windows registry when closed.

Monitorian was initially developed in 2019 by emoacht as a personal project. The application is written in C# using the .NET framework and is published under the MIT license. The source code is available on GitHub where it receives periodic updates to improve compatibility with new hardware and Windows versions. The tool emerged as an alternative to default system utilities that did not offer granular control over multiple external screens.
