  • Direct cross-platform transfer. MusConv allows selecting a source service (e.g., Spotify) and a destination (e.g., Apple Music) to move entire playlists without downloading audio files. The transfer preserves track order, basic metadata (artist, title, album), and on compatible services, liked status or favorite marks. The process runs in background with automatic retries on network failures or API rate limits.
  • Scheduled automatic synchronization. The sync function keeps playlists updated between two or more services. When a track is added to a playlist on Spotify, MusConv replicates that change to the equivalent playlist on YouTube Music or Tidal. Synchronization can be set at hourly or daily intervals and operates without manual intervention after initial setup.
  • Duplicate removal within playlists. The cleaning module analyzes a playlist or entire library and detects duplicate tracks based on title+artist+album matching. The user can remove duplicates with one click, keeping a single instance of each track. This function can be executed before a transfer to reduce noise or after to optimize migrated collections.
  • Manual rematching and error correction. When MusConv cannot find an exact match for a track due to catalog differences between services, the tool displays a dialog with alternative suggestions. The user can manually search for the correct track in the destination service and assign that match. This correction is saved for future transfers with the same source-destination pair.
  • CSV export and import. MusConv can export any playlist, album, or collection to a CSV file containing columns: title, artist, album, duration (if available), and internal source service ID. That CSV can later be imported to another destination service, useful for offline bulk migrations or local backups of playlist structures.
  • Hot cues transfer from DJ platforms. For services that support timeline markers on tracks (such as Tidal, Beatport LINK, or certain integrators), MusConv extracts and transfers hot cues, loops, and start points. This feature targets DJs using mixing software with streaming integration. The function requires both source and destination to expose these properties via their APIs.
  • Playback statistics and most-played tracks. By connecting Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube Music accounts, MusConv generates reports of tracks, artists, and albums with the highest play counts over a defined period (last 4 weeks, last 6 months, or all-time history). These data are presented in exportable tables and can be used to create automatic top tracks playlists on any supported destination service.
  • Access to daily official chart lists. The program downloads daily chart lists from sources including Billboard Hot 100, TikTok Top 50, MTV Europe Top 20, Apple Music Top 100 by country, and Spotify Global 200. The user can transfer any of these official charts directly to their Deezer, Amazon Music, Tidal, or other supported service without manually collecting the tracks.
  • Full album transfer and artist following. MusConv handles not only playlists: it also transfers entire albums (preserving track order) and the action of following artists. If you follow 80 artists and have 15 saved albums on Apple Music, the application replicates those links to Spotify or YouTube Music, provided the same albums and artists exist in the destination catalog.
  • Cross-platform support without heavy installation. MusConv is available as a desktop application for Windows, macOS, Linux (AppImage/DEB packages), and as a web version via browser. The web version requires no installation and works with OAuth authentication for major services. Credentials are stored locally in the browser without intermediate MusConv servers.
  • Bulk queue management and parallel transfer. The internal engine can transfer up to 5000 tracks per operation, splitting the transfer into batches of 200 tracks to avoid API rate limit blocks. During execution, progress per batch, estimated remaining time, and a per-track error log (e.g., "track not found in destination") are displayed.
  • Collaborative and public playlist support. MusConv detects whether a source playlist is collaborative (multiple users can add tracks) or public. When transferring to another service, it preserves the same visibility level if the destination service permits; otherwise, it creates the playlist as private but retains all tracks. The user can manually change visibility afterward.

MusConv was created in 2015 by a team of developers led by the Canadian company MusConv Inc. The first public version was released in March 2016 with initial support for Spotify, Google Play Music, and Apple Music. The primary programming language for the desktop application is C++ with the Qt framework for the native graphical interface. The web version and backend servers are written in Node.js (TypeScript) to handle API connections to streaming services. The founders are developers with experience in multimedia API integrations, and the project began as an internal solution to migrate playlists between services following the closure of Rdio in 2015. To date, MusConv has released more than 120 versions, gradually adding support for SoundCloud (2017), YouTube Music (2018), Tidal (2019), Deezer (2020), and Amazon Music (2021). The core team consists of 8 full-time developers and 3 support staff based in Toronto and Kyiv. The application receives updates every 4-6 weeks to accommodate changes in external service APIs.
