  • Always-on-top window. The teleprompter window remains above all other applications. It does not hide when switching applications. This feature ensures continuous visibility of the script text during any activity on the system.
  • Voice activation. Text scrolling is controlled using predefined voice commands. The user can start, pause, or stop playback by speaking. The function operates without the need for manual keyboard or mouse interaction.
  • Minimalist design. The interface presents only the elements necessary for the teleprompter function. It does not include complex controls or extensive configuration panels. The absence of decorative elements reduces distraction during use.
  • Low resource consumption. The application uses a minimal amount of system RAM and processing. Its operation does not interfere with the performance of other professional applications such as video editors or streaming software.
  • Pause on mouse hover. Text scrolling automatically stops when the mouse pointer is positioned over the application window. This action allows for making adjustments or reading a specific passage without needing to use voice or keyboard commands.
  • Speed and size customization. The user adjusts the text scrolling speed using a slider control. It is possible to modify the font size to adapt readability to different viewing distances or screen resolutions.
  • Customizable position. The teleprompter window can be moved to any area of the screen. It remains in the position designated by the user between sessions. This capability is necessary to integrate the window into a specific workflow.
  • Typeface selection. The application allows changing the font of the displayed text. Access to the collection of fonts installed on the system is included. The modification affects the readability and visual style of the content.
  • Line spacing adjustment. Control exists over the vertical space between lines of text. Increased line spacing improves readability during fast scrolling. A reduced value allows more text to be displayed in the same window area.
  • Support for multi-monitor setups. The teleprompter window can be moved between different screens connected to the system. The application detects the boundaries of each screen. The window remains visible on the active monitor selected by the user.
  • Configuration persistence. All application settings are saved automatically when closing the program. The next run restores the window position, font size, speed, and other configured parameters.
  • Text file dragging. Scripts are loaded by dragging plain text files (.txt) directly onto the application window. The system replaces the current content with that of the imported file. It does not require complex file dialogs.

Development of NotchPrompter began in 2025 by programmer Jakub Pomykala. The creation responded to the need for a simple teleprompter for personal use on macOS. The application is written in the Swift programming language using Apple's native frameworks. The source code is available on the GitHub platform under the MIT license.
