  • Non-invasive replacement. Rebound uses techniques such as low-level hooks, Image File Execution Options (IFEO), and icon replacement to integrate its components without modifying critical operating system files.
  • WinUI 3 applications. Each component is a native application built with WinUI 3, designed to provide visual and functional consistency with the Windows 11 Fluent design.
  • Modular installation. Rebound Hub lets you install and manage each application in the ecosystem individually, giving you full control over the active components.
  • Guaranteed compatibility. Because it avoids direct system modifications, Rebound components remain compatible with future Windows 11 updates.
  • Functional replacements. Each application provides functionality equivalent to or better than the Win32 applications it replaces, with interfaces adapted to modern standards.
  • Enhanced security. Rebound's architecture removes the need for unsafe patches or system modifications that could compromise the integrity of the OS.
  • Controlled customization. Users can choose which legacy components to replace, striking a balance between modernization and personal preferences.
  • Optimized performance. WinUI 3 applications are designed to take advantage of modern hardware capabilities, reducing resource consumption compared to legacy solutions.
  • Independent updates. Each component can be updated separately through Rebound Hub, allowing continuous improvements without affecting the entire system.
  • Activity logging. The system keeps detailed logs of all operations performed by Rebound components for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Developer support. Includes tools that allow third-party creators to build extensions compatible with the Rebound ecosystem.
  • Visual integration. All components strictly follow Fluent UI design guidelines to stay consistent with the native Windows 11 interface.

Rebound is currently developed as an open-source project under the supervision of IVIRIUS Technologies. Development began in 2022 in response to the fragmentation of interfaces in Windows 11. The initial Alpha version was released in 2023, with plans for a Developer Preview release in 2024. The project is written primarily in C# with XAML for the interfaces, making full use of the WinUI 3 framework and the Windows App SDK.
