• Scheduled recording. This function allows users to set specific dates and times for automatic recording of radio programs. The user selects the station, start time, and duration. Recording runs in the background even when the application window is closed.
• Automatic song splitting. TapinRadio detects track boundaries during recording and saves each song as a separate audio file. Each file is named automatically using artist and title metadata retrieved from the stream.

• Silence detection. This feature monitors the incoming audio stream and stops recording when silence exceeds a configurable threshold. Silence detection prevents saving empty or irrelevant audio segments.
• Portable mode. The portable version runs directly from a USB flash drive without installation. All settings, favorites, and scheduled tasks are stored in the same folder as the executable file. The user can move the drive between computers without reconfiguration.
• Output format selection. Recordings can be saved in MP3 (configurable bitrate from 64 to 320 kbps), WMA, or OGG format. The user chooses quality based on storage capacity and audio fidelity requirements.

• Live directory updates. TapinRadio connects to Raimersoft servers to receive updated station lists. Dead or offline stations are marked inactive, and new stations are added periodically without user action.
• Timer recording. The user can record the currently playing station for a fixed duration (30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or custom time). Recording stops automatically when the timer expires. This option requires no date or time setup.
• Advanced search filters. Search results can be filtered by country, language, genre (rock, jazz, classical, news, sports, talk), minimum bitrate, and active status. Keyword search scans station names and current track information.
• Proxy and firewall support. TapinRadio allows configuration of HTTP and SOCKS proxies for corporate or restricted networks. Manual port configuration enables functionality behind firewalls without losing streaming reception.
• Multiple simultaneous recordings. The user can launch several independent instances of TapinRadio in separate windows. Each instance maintains its own recording schedule and can record from different stations at the same time.
• Playlist import and export. Favorites lists and recording configurations can be exported to .tap or .m3u files. Export enables backup creation or configuration transfer between computers without manual re-entry.
• Automatic ID3 tagging. When recording music, TapinRadio writes ID3 metadata (artist, title, and album when available) into MP3 files. Media players display this information directly without manual tagging.

TapinRadio was created by Raimersoft, a software company based in Sweden specializing in audio and streaming tools. The first public version of TapinRadio was released in 2010. The program is written primarily in Delphi (Object Pascal) for native Windows user interface components, combined with custom libraries for network stream handling and audio encoding. Since the initial release, the software has received technical updates to maintain compatibility with modern streaming protocols including HLS, Shoutcast v2, and Icecast.
