Telemetry Studio

Telemetry Studio — Free Download. Video editor with cycling data
Telemetry Studio is a desktop application for macOS and Windows that allows you to create videos with cycling data overlays. The workflow imports video from an action camera (GoPro) and automatically syncs it with GPS activity files (GPX, FIT) or directly with data from Strava. The result is a video with professional overlays for speed, power, heart rate, cadence, elevation, gradient, and Strava segments, ready for export in formats for YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram. Processing is done locally on your computer using GPU acceleration, with no monthly subscription required.

  • Automatic video-data synchronization. The application automatically aligns the traces from the activity file (FIT/GPX) with the imported video. No manual timeline adjustment is needed; the system detects the start of movement and syncs both files with frame accuracy.
  • Native Strava integration. Connect your Strava account directly to import activities and automatically detect segments. During video playback, it displays the segment name, progress, real-time comparison with your Personal Record (PR), and the time difference from the KOM/QOM.
  • Real-time speed overlay. Visualization of current speed in a graphical format (speedometer) or numerically. Data updates on every video frame, maintaining exact correlation with the GPS position.
  • Power and cadence gauges. Displays power in watts (W) and cadence (rpm) in real time, with power zone indicators (Z1 to Z5) and a visual representation of effort using a color bar.
  • Energy reserve tracking (W' BAL). Implements an overlay that calculates and shows the real-time W' balance, i.e., the estimated remaining anaerobic energy based on the rider's power history.
  • Elevation and gradient map. Graphical representation of the route's elevation profile, with an indicator for the current position. Includes the numerical value of the current terrain gradient in percent (%).
  • Progress indicator on Strava segments. When the rider enters a segment, a specific overlay appears showing the segment's total distance, average gradient, progress percentage, and a visual comparison bar against their best personal time.
  • Heart rate panel. Real-time display of heartbeats per minute (bpm). Can be shown as a numerical value or integrated into an evolving chart during the video.
  • Clock, timer, and total distance. Additional data overlays such as the time of day the video was recorded, a stopwatch showing the elapsed activity time, and a counter for the total distance covered in kilometers or miles.
  • Segment result cards. Upon finishing a segment, the software automatically generates a graphic card within the video summarizing the time achieved, average speed, average power, and comparison with the previous personal record.
  • Automatic celebration animations. If the software detects that a personal record (PR) has been broken or a KOM/QOM has been achieved within the segment, it triggers visual animations in the video to highlight the accomplishment.
  • Multi-format and 4K export. Allows exporting the final video at resolutions up to 4K Ultra HD. Offers predefined settings for different platforms (YouTube 16:9, TikTok/Reels 9:16, Instagram 1:1) and professional codecs like H.264, H.265, and Apple ProRes.
  • Customizable visual themes. Includes multiple design themes for the overlays (colors, fonts, element arrangement) that can be applied with a single click to maintain a consistent aesthetic throughout the video.

The development of Telemetry Studio began with a focus on solving the inefficiency of editing cycling videos with general-purpose tools. The application is created by a team of developers who are also cyclists, which guided the design towards the specific needs of this sport. It is programmed using languages and frameworks that enable GPU acceleration to ensure smooth real-time preview at 60fps and fast export. The first public version was recently released (version 1.1.0 available for download) and the business model is a one-time payment of 79 USD for a license that includes lifetime updates, with no recurring fees.
