Development of Total Excel Converter began in 2004 by CoolUtils. The company specializes in conversion tools and utilities for office documents. The program is written in C++ with Delphi components for user interface elements. The first commercial version was released in 2005 with support for XLS formats and PDF conversion. Subsequent updates added XLSX compatibility in 2007 and ODS formats in 2010.
