  • Data capture from multiple sources. TWedge supports receiving information from various devices including barcode readers, industrial scales, measuring instruments, 2D scanners, and RFID devices. Each device is configured individually to ensure precise communication.
  • Keyboard input simulation. The software emulates keystrokes to insert data into any application field. This functionality ensures compatibility with virtually any program without the need for custom integration or additional development.
  • Data processing and formatting. TWedge includes a processing engine that allows modifying, filtering, and reformatting captured data before transfer. Transformations such as adding prefixes/suffixes, removing unwanted characters, or changing numeric formats can be applied.
  • Multiple communication protocols. The solution supports serial interfaces (RS-232), USB, Bluetooth, and TCP/IP. Each protocol is configured with specific parameters such as baud rate, stop bits, and flow control.
  • Automation through triggers. The system responds to specific events using configurable triggers. These triggers initiate predefined actions when particular conditions are detected in the input data.
  • Data registration and logging. TWedge incorporates logging functions that capture all operations in log files. These logs contain timestamps, raw and processed data, and source device information for auditing purposes.
  • Visual configuration interface. The tool provides a graphical editor for defining capture profiles. Each profile contains specific parameters for devices, data processing, and output destinations.
  • Enterprise distribution and deployment. TWedge allows creating preconfigured installation packages for deployment across multiple workstations. These packages maintain all necessary settings for immediate operation.
  • Database integration. The software can transfer data directly to database management systems using parameterized SQL queries. It supports major systems such as MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
  • Support for multiple languages and characters. TWedge processes data in different character encodings including ASCII, Unicode UTF-8, and UTF-16. This capability enables operation with international devices and multilingual applications.
  • Centralized configuration management. TWedge settings are stored in XML files that can be versioned and shared across systems. This feature facilitates administration in environments with multiple installations.
  • Debugging and diagnostic mode. Includes integrated tools for monitoring data flow in real time. The diagnostic mode displays detailed information about device communication and applied processing.

TWedge was developed by TEC-IT, a company specializing in automation and identification software. Development began in 2000 in response to the growing need to capture data from specialized devices into standard applications. The first commercial version was released in 2001 with support for serial interfaces and keyboard emulation. TWedge is primarily written in C++ using Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) for the graphical user interface components. The communication modules employ native Windows APIs to manage serial ports, USB, and network connections.
