  • Proximity transfer. Send files directly between devices on the same local network. The connection is established point-to-point, without intermediate servers. Files are transferred at the maximum speed allowed by the local network. The process requires no complex network configuration.
  • Share via web link. Generate a temporary web link for any file. This link provides download access for a limited period, typically 24 hours. The system does not store files on permanent servers. Expired links cease to function.
  • Universal synchronized clipboard. Synchronizes clipboard content between paired devices. Text copied on one device is available to paste on another. Synchronization is triggered manually with a dedicated button. This feature keeps data only on the linked devices.
  • History management interface. Displays a chronological log of all transfers made. The history includes both local exchanges and generated web links. History items contain metadata such as date, file name, and destination device. The user can delete individual records or clear the complete history.
  • Device pairing system. Establishes a trusted relationship between devices for recurring transfers. Pairing is done using a verification code displayed on screen. Paired devices are automatically recognized in future sessions. This relationship can be revoked at any time from the settings.
  • Integrated file picker. Provides a system file explorer to select items for transfer. Supports multiple file and folder selection. Displays basic information such as size and type for each item. Allows navigation through the device's directory structure.
  • Visual progress indicator. Shows a progress bar during file transfer. Indicates the percentage completed and transfer speed in real-time. Provides an estimate of the remaining time to completion. Displays a notification upon operation completion.
  • Transfer queue system. Manages multiple simultaneous transfers using a queuing system. Allows pausing and resuming individual transfers. Shows the status of each item in the waiting queue. Operates transfers in the background without interrupting normal device use.
  • Network preference settings. Allows specifying custom communication ports for local transfers. Offers options to limit used bandwidth. Configures specific network interfaces for transfers. Sets custom timeouts for connections.
  • File integrity verifier. Calculates cryptographic hashes of files before and after transfer. Compares hash values to verify that the file did not suffer corruption. Supported algorithms include MD5, SHA-1, and SHA-256. Shows a verification report upon completion of each transfer.
  • Cross-platform notification system. Issues native operating system alerts for important events. Notifications inform about completed transfers, errors, or newly detected devices. Allows configuration of which event types generate notifications. Alerts are dismissible and integrate with the system's notification center.
  • Network device monitor. Automatically detects and lists other devices with UniDrop on the local network. Shows the name and type of each detected device. Indicates the connection status of each device. Updates the list in real-time as devices connect or disconnect.

UniDrop's development began in 2025 as a personal project to solve interoperability problems between systems. The initial creator identified the lack of simple solutions for transfers between Windows, macOS, and Android. The application was built using the Electron framework, allowing a single codebase for cross-platform desktop versions. Complementary native technologies were used for the mobile version.
