  • Modification of UEFI variables. Allows reading, writing, and deleting UEFI variables directly from Windows. These variables control critical system aspects such as Secure Boot and hardware configurations.
  • Disable Secure Boot. Provides an interface to disable Secure Boot, a security feature that restricts the execution of unsigned operating systems. This function is necessary for loading alternative systems or uncertified drivers.
  • Enable Legacy mode. Allows switching UEFI boot mode to Legacy BIOS on compatible systems. Useful for older operating systems that do not support UEFI.
  • Firmware key management. Offers tools to manipulate Platform Keys (PK), Key Exchange Keys (KEK), and Database lists (DB). These keys are essential for Secure Boot operation.
  • UEFI configuration backup. Creates backups of current UEFI variables, allowing restoration in case of configuration errors.
  • Restore default values. Resets UEFI settings to factory values, useful for troubleshooting boot issues or incorrect configurations.
  • Firmware information display. Shows technical details about the UEFI firmware, including version, manufacturer, and supported capabilities.
  • NVRAM editing. Allows modifying the non-volatile memory (NVRAM) where UEFI settings are stored, including options hidden on some systems.
  • Block firmware updates. Provides options to prevent unauthorized modifications to the firmware, increasing system security.
  • Scripting support. Includes functions to automate tasks via scripts, facilitating management in environments with multiple computers.

WinUEFI was developed by FreakinSoftMania and is available on GitHub. The project began in 2018 as a tool to modify UEFI configurations on Windows systems. It is written in C++ and uses direct Windows API calls to interact with the firmware. The application remains under active development, adding compatibility with new UEFI versions and hardware.
