  • Integrated Browser. X-DLNA includes a web browser that automatically detects video content on web pages. When a video is identified, it offers the option to play it directly on any DLNA device connected to the network, without needing to download the content beforehand.
  • Link Streaming. The free version of X-DLNA streams links to media content instead of redirecting the entire stream. This feature allows you to turn off the computer after starting playback, as the DLNA device accesses the content directly via the provided link.
  • Local Media Server. The Pro version turns your Mac into a full-fledged media server, allowing you to organize and stream local content libraries to DLNA devices. It supports all common media formats without requiring prior conversion.
  • Library Manager. X-DLNA Pro allows you to catalog movies, TV series, and music videos with detailed information including titles, genres, cast, artists, and associated images. The library is automatically organized using metadata.
  • Online Content. The application allows you to download content from the internet and add it directly to your media library. Downloaded files are automatically integrated into the organization of your personal collection.
  • Cross-Platform Compatibility. X-DLNA works with all devices that comply with the DLNA standard, including Samsung, LG, Sony, Philips TVs, Blu-ray players, video game consoles, and compatible audio systems.
  • Real-time Transcoding. For formats not supported by the target devices, X-DLNA Pro performs on-the-fly transcoding, converting the content to playable formats without affecting the viewing experience.
  • Remote Control. The application allows you to control playback on DLNA devices from the MacOS interface, including play, pause, stop, and content navigation functions.
  • Automatic Detection. X-DLNA continuously scans the local network to identify new connected DLNA devices, displaying them immediately in the interface for selection.
  • Multicast Streaming. The Pro version allows you to stream the same content to multiple DLNA devices simultaneously, synchronizing playback across different screens.
  • Remote Access. Advanced configuration allows access to your media library from locations outside your local network, via secure port forwarding setup.
  • Integrated Subtitles. Support for streaming subtitles in multiple formats, with automatic detection of subtitle files associated with media content.

X-DLNA was developed by a team specialized in streaming technologies and media connectivity. Development began in 2015 as a project for MacOS, leveraging the native networking capabilities of this operating system. The application is primarily programmed in Objective-C with C++ components for low-level media processing. The transcoding modules use open-source libraries optimized for Apple hardware. The first public version was released in 2016, with regular updates adding support for new formats and devices.
