• Windows Explorer integration. From any item shown in the list or tree, the user can open the exact location in Windows Explorer with one click. This function saves time by eliminating manual path searching and works for both files and folders.
• WSL folder support. YuDisk can analyze space used by Linux distributions installed within WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux). This includes the WSL2 virtual filesystem and distribution root folders, allowing control over disk consumption of Linux environments running on Windows.
• Themes and language switching. The program includes multiple color themes, including a complete dark mode. It also allows selecting between several interface languages such as English, Japanese, and others. Settings apply instantly without restarting the application.
• High-DPI display support. YuDisk handles different DPI scaling on each monitor correctly. This ensures the interface appears sharp on 4K screens, monitors with custom scaling, and multi-monitor configurations with different pixel densities.
• Native application with no dependencies. The program is built directly on the Win32 API without requiring .NET Framework or external libraries. This makes the executable small, self-contained, and functional on Windows versions from XP to the latest releases without prior installation of additional components.
• Hierarchical size ranking under any folder. Upon selecting any folder within the tree, YuDisk automatically recalculates the lists of largest files and subfolders limited to that directory. This allows drilling down into specific sections of the disk without repeating the full scan.
• Visual occupancy statistics. Alongside the listing, the program displays relative size bars for each item, visually comparing how much each file or folder occupies relative to the total scanned. This graphical representation helps identify storage imbalances immediately.

YuDisk was created by an independent developer under the name YuTakaSan. The first version of the program dates from 2011, targeting Windows XP and Windows 7. The programming language used is C++, exclusively utilizing the native Windows API (Win32 API) without additional frameworks. The author maintained the project for several years, adding support for large drives, NTFS fast scan mode, and later WSL compatibility and high-resolution displays. The tool is distributed as a single portable executable without installation.
