Agelapse

Agelapse — Free Download. Stabilized Face time-lapse video creation
Agelapse is a desktop and mobile application designed to generate time-lapse sequences from photographs of the human face, with automated eye stabilization. The tool processes images locally, allowing users to document physical changes over months or years through high-quality videos.

  • Automatic eye stabilization. Agelapse applies an alignment algorithm that detects and fixes the position of the eyes in each imported photograph. This function removes unwanted head movements or blinks, producing a time-lapse video where the face remains centered and stable throughout the entire transition.
  • Import and export of files. The application allows loading images from the device gallery or from system folders. Once the video is generated, it can be exported in various formats for sharing on social networks or local storage, preserving the original resolution of the captures.
  • Resolution and frames per second adjustment. The user configures the output resolution (including 8K and custom resolutions) and the frames per second (FPS). This determines the smoothness of the time-lapse video and its final size, adapting to quality or storage requirements.
  • Customizable watermarks. A text or logo can be added as an overlaid watermark on the resulting video. The position, opacity, and size of the watermark are configurable, protecting authorship of the generated content.
  • Video codec selection. Agelapse offers H.264, HEVC, ProRes 422, ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 4444, and VP9 codecs. Each codec balances compression, quality, and compatibility; ProRes 4444 and VP9 additionally support transparent background.
  • Transparent or blurred video background. The transparent background feature (available with ProRes 4444 or VP9 alpha) removes the original environment from photos. The blurred background option applies a blur filter to non-facial areas, keeping attention on the face.
  • RAW and HEIC image support. The application processes RAW format files from digital cameras, as well as HEIC images on Windows devices. This preserves maximum information per pixel and avoids lossy compression during the workflow.
  • Pet projects (dogs and cats). Agelapse includes project types specific to dogs and cats. The stabilization algorithm adapts to animal facial features, allowing documentation of pet growth with the same precision as in humans.
  • Date stamp insertion on photos and videos. The system burns the capture date onto each image and into the final video. The format is customizable (e.g., "Jan 1, 2024", "2024-01-01") and the date is extracted from the original file metadata.
  • Inspection mode with stabilization grid. During gallery preview or individual image preview, a grid overlay shows the exact eye alignment. This tool verifies the stabilization result before compiling the video.
  • Manual video compilation. The user disables automatic compilation after taking photos. Instead, the video is generated manually from the "Create" tab, avoiding redundant processes while more images are added.
  • Camera preview with timer. The built-in camera provides a 3 or 10 second visual countdown with on-screen feedback. This reduces camera movement when capturing self-portraits, improving image consistency for stabilization.

Agelapse development began in the year 2021. The founding team consists of software engineers specializing in image processing and computer vision, operating under the Agelapse brand without individual public names. The initial version was written in JavaScript using the Electron framework for the desktop interface, while the stabilization core and pixel manipulation use C++ along with libraries such as FFmpeg for video encoding. For mobile devices (Android), Kotlin is used together with the same native processing engine compiled via NDK.
