The tool works with objects such as visualizers, timers, texts, images, particle flows, and backgrounds. Projects are saved with all their included resources for transfer. After configuring the output parameters, the export produces an .mp4 file at the specified path.

• MP4 video export. Wav2Bar's main function is to render the final visual composition into an MP4 video file. The user defines the output path, resolution, and frame rate before starting the export process, which generates a file ready for distribution on digital platforms.
• Portable project system. Each creation is stored as a unique project file containing all used resources, such as audio and image files. This method enables comprehensive backup and transfer of work between different systems without broken paths or missing resources.

• Resolution and framerate control. It provides precise settings for the output resolution (width and height in pixels) and the frame rate of the exported video. This configuration determines the dimensional quality and temporal smoothness of the final result.
• Contextual help system. Next to most object properties, there is a question mark icon that, when hovered over with the cursor, displays an explanatory text bubble. This internal documentation details the purpose and use of each interface parameter.
• Audio source selector. It allows loading audio files from local storage to use as the basis for the visualization. The application analyzes the waveform and frequency spectra of the loaded file to drive the animation of the visualizers and effects.
• Per-object property editing. Each element added to the scene has an extensive property panel that controls its behavior and appearance. Parameters include position, scale, opacity, color, and specific parameters like audio sensitivity or render style.
• Active rewrite and maintenance. The application's codebase is being completely rewritten in a parallel project to improve its architecture, extensibility, and long-term maintenance. This new version is developed under the MPL-2.0 license.

The development history of Wav2Bar began with its creation by Picorims. Active development and public releases have been documented since at least the year 2021. The original application is written primarily in the C# programming language, using the .NET framework for the user interface and processing logic. The version currently being rewritten (Wav2Bar Reborn) constitutes an effort to modernize the codebase and its licensing.
