  • AutoPosing with neural networks. The AutoPosing system uses trained neural networks to automatically position body parts based on control points moved by the animator. This technology analyzes human anatomy and calculates natural positions for the rest of the figure when specific points are adjusted, maintaining correct proportions and biomechanical relationships.
  • Intelligent controllers for fingers. Specialized controllers for hand animation allow manipulating groups of fingers simultaneously while preserving natural anatomy. The system automatically calculates curvatures and relationships between phalanges, significantly reducing the time required to create believable hand gestures.
  • Quick rigging tool. The Quick Rigging Tool functionality automatically generates control systems by dragging and dropping model joints. It supports standard skeletons from Daz3d, Character Creator, Mixamo, Unreal Engine, Metahuman and Player.me without the need for additional manual setup.
  • Physics based on simulations. AutoPhysics applies body dynamics principles to suggest physically accurate movements. The system shows a green version of the character with the proposed animation, allowing direct visual comparison while preserving the animator's original intent.

  • Animation Unbaking. This technology converts baked animations, where each frame contains keyframes, into editable sequences. The system automatically identifies essential keyframes and interpolation intervals with configurable precision, preparing the animation for modifications.
  • Curve editing tools. The animation curve editor provides detailed control over interpolations and motion trajectories. It includes functions for smoothing, tangent adjustment, and visualization of physical parameters such as speed and acceleration.
  • Animation layer system. Allows working with multiple animation layers that can be blended and adjusted independently. Each layer maintains its own set of keyframes and can be activated or deactivated to compare different versions.
  • Balance and center of mass simulation. Visual tools show the center of mass and support points during animation, helping to create poses and movements that maintain realistic physical stability in characters.

Cascadeur's development began in 2018 by Nekki, a development company based in Cyprus. The initial team included programmers with experience in physics and animation. The software is primarily written in C++ with Python components for automation and scripting. The first public beta version was released in 2019, with regular updates that have added AI functionalities and physical tools. Development continues focused on improving neural network accuracy and expanding physical simulation capabilities.
