  • Creation of Collections. The core function of iCollections allows users to create shaded areas on the desktop, called Collections, to group and organize icons, files, and folders. These collections are fully customizable in size, position, style, and behavior, and can contain multiple tabs for more detailed internal organization. Items within a Collection can be manipulated just as they can on the Finder desktop, including opening, renaming, dragging, or locating them in a Finder window.
  • Drawer Mode and Auto Hide. Collections can be configured to function in drawer mode, anchoring to the screen edges and expanding or contracting with a click. The Auto Hide feature automatically minimizes a Collection when not in use, freeing up desktop space until the user interacts with it again, thus maintaining a clean working environment.
  • System Icon Customization. This feature offers the ability to replace macOS default icons for files, folders, applications, disk drives, or URL links with custom images. There are no limitations on the image file that can be used, allowing for complete visual personalization of the desktop according to the user's preferences.
  • Web View on Desktop. iCollections integrates a web browser directly onto the desktop, allowing users to display favorite websites like Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter without needing to open a separate browser application. The view can show mobile versions of websites and remain visible while working with other applications, facilitating access to chats, forums, or real-time notifications.
  • Photo Frames. Allows users to create picture frames on the desktop that display a slideshow of selected photos from specific albums or folders. The user can customize the frame's design, image change intervals, and other visual details, transforming the desktop into a rotating display of memories.
  • Disk Panel and Folder View. The Disk Panel feature creates a visual monitor on the desktop for the system's storage drives. The Folder View feature provides direct access and monitoring of a selected folder's contents, displaying its files and subfolders directly on the desktop for quick access.
  • Applications & Windows Monitor. This panel displays a list of the processes and applications currently running on the system. From it, the user can bring an application to the front, force it to quit, or get detailed information about a selected process, with options to filter and customize the display.
  • Desktop Calendar. iCollections includes a calendar view that can be pinned to the desktop, showing events from selected calendars (such as Work, Home, or Birthdays). Clicking on a day displays details of scheduled events, integrating the personal agenda into the desktop workflow.
  • List and Table View. Within Collections, items can be viewed not only as icons but also in a Finder-style table view, with sortable columns like Name, Size, and Date. This view allows for structured organization and is ideal for specific tabs within a Collection that contain many files, while other tabs can maintain the icon view.
  • Comprehensive Visual Customization. Each Collection, panel, or view created with iCollections supports extensive customization of its appearance. This includes changes to frame style, fonts, background colors, icon size, labels, and visual behaviors like fading, offering total control over the aesthetic integration with the user's desktop.
  • Support for Retina Display and Multiple Monitors. The application is optimized for high-resolution Retina displays and multi-monitor work environments. Collections and other elements maintain a sharp and correct representation across all connected screens, ensuring a consistent visual experience regardless of the hardware configuration.
  • System Startup Integration. iCollections can be configured to launch automatically when macOS starts, ensuring that the personalized desktop organization is always present without requiring manual actions from the user after each system restart.

The iCollections application is developed by Naarak-Studio, a company with experience in creating software solutions for macOS. The program has been available for several years, with constant updates to ensure compatibility with the latest versions of the operating system, including macOS Sequoia and Apple M processors.
