  • Rule-based proxying. Network traffic is managed through user-defined rules. It can be specified which applications or domains should use a proxy server and which should connect directly, offering granular control over data flow.
  • Multiple protocol support. The application supports a wide range of proxy and tunnel protocols, including SSH Tunnel, HTTP/HTTPS Connect, SOCKS4/4a, SOCKS5, SOCKS5 over TLS, Shadowsocks, VMESS, Trojan, AnyTLS, and the proprietary IMAP Tunnel protocol.
  • Multi-level proxy chains. Allows chaining multiple proxy servers of different types in sequence. Traffic can hop through multiple nodes before reaching the destination, increasing anonymity.
  • Configuration import. Supports importing configuration files in .conf format and also YAML files used by projects like Clash, facilitating migration from other tools.
  • DNS leak prevention. All DNS queries are resolved remotely through the designated proxy server. This feature prevents name resolution requests from traveling over the direct connection, eliminating a common vector for information leakage.
  • Multiple configuration profiles. The user can create and save multiple profiles with different sets of rules and servers. This allows quick switching between configurations for different usage scenarios.
  • Integrated VPN mode. In addition to the proxifier mode, the same underlying technology is used in a sister application called Maxwave VPN, which offers a free VPN connection without requiring manual configuration.
  • Cross-platform support. It is available for Android operating systems (phones, tablets, and TVs), Windows for x86_64 architectures, macOS for Intel and Apple Silicon processors (arm64), and Linux for x86_64 and arm64.
  • Selective traffic blocking. Rules can be configured not only to redirect traffic, but also to block connections to specific addresses or domains, functioning as a basic firewall.
  • High performance. The use of C for the data processing engine and C++ for the graphical interface provides high execution speed and efficient use of system resources.

Development of Maxwave Proxifier was initiated by the PlayboyGorilla team. The first version of the application was created to offer an efficient alternative to other proxy clients, with a focus on system performance. The data processing core is written in C, while the graphical user interface was developed in C++. The project is active, with recent releases such as version 1.2.4 for desktop PCs in February 2026 and version 1.6.9 for Android. The application has evolved to include support for a wide variety of protocols and the ability to import configurations from other popular formats.
