These selections allow isolating specific areas of an image to apply local adjustments, filters, or transformations without affecting the rest of the image. Selections can be modified with union, intersection, or subtraction operations.
• Color and tone adjustments. The software provides control over white balance, tone curves, levels, brightness, contrast, and saturation. These adjustments correct exposure and color issues in photographs. The modifications are applied using algorithms that preserve the quality of the original image.

• Batch processing. PhotoFiltre allows applying predefined adjustments, resizing, or format conversion to multiple images simultaneously. This function automates repetitive tasks by configuring parameters and input/output folders.
• Scripts and automation. Users can record editing sequences as scripts for reuse. This feature records the operations performed to apply them later to other images.
• Screen capture. PhotoFiltre includes utilities for capturing specific screen areas, active windows, or the entire desktop. Captures are imported directly into the workspace for editing.
• Plugin support. The software architecture supports third-party add-ons that extend its functionality with new filters and tools. Plugins integrate into the main menu and operate with the image data.

PhotoFiltre was developed by Antonio Da Cruz. The first version was published in 2001. The program is written in C++ language with parts in assembly to optimize image processing. PhotoFiltre Studio, the extended version, was released in 2007 with advanced layer management functions.
