System Scheduler

System Scheduler — Free Download. Task Automation and Scheduling
System Scheduler runs applications, popup reminders, window watchers, process monitors, and automated jobs independently of the Microsoft Windows Task Scheduler. The free version launches programs, shows reminder dialogs, and sends keystrokes. Professional edition adds file watchers, service monitors, email alerts, system reboot, and triggers based on logon or idle time.

  • Run Application with Keystrokes and Mouse Clicks. Launches any executable, script, or document, then sends keyboard presses or mouse clicks to the active window. Used to automate data entry, form navigation, or repetitive control actions without manual intervention.
  • Scheduled Popup Reminder. Displays a window with a custom message at a defined date and time. Supports optional sound, response buttons, and periodic repetition. Suitable for meeting alerts, deadline warnings, or critical process step notifications.
  • Window Watcher. Monitors a specific window by its title or class. Detects conditions such as window opened, closed, not responding, or text changed, then triggers an action: send keys, run another task, or close the window. Useful for supervising unstable applications or unexpected dialog boxes.
  • Process Watcher. Supervises running processes by name or PID. Detects process start, termination, excessive CPU usage, or memory threshold breaches. Automatically restarts crashed processes, logs events, or executes commands upon failures.
  • File and Folder Watcher. Observes file system changes: creation, modification, deletion, or size increase. Ideal for processing incoming files, automatic backups, or triggering scripts when a document updates.
  • Windows Service Watcher. Monitors the state of Windows services. If a service stops unexpectedly, the watcher can restart it, run a repair program, or send a notification. Keeps critical services always active.
  • Scheduled System Reboot. Shuts down or restarts the computer according to a time schedule or specific condition (for example, after a long task or during nighttime hours). Supports forced application closure with optional advance warning.
  • Email Sending from Event. Sends an SMTP email when an event occurs: task completion, watcher failure, or at regular intervals. Includes subject, body, and attachments. Provides remote notifications without user interaction.
  • System Trigger Scheduling. Executes tasks at user logon (any user), workstation lock or unlock, system idle entry, or returning from sleep. Ideal for tasks that must synchronize with user behavior patterns.
  • Advanced Calendar Scheduling. Defines tasks every X minutes or hours, specific weekdays, weekends, business days, or monthly on a fixed date (e.g., every 15th day at 10:00 AM). Supports exclusion of holidays and date ranges with start and end boundaries.
  • Execution as Windows Service. System Scheduler installs as a Windows service and runs jobs even when no user is logged on. Tasks execute in the background with optional desktop interaction. Guarantees 24/7 automation.
  • Event Export and Import. Backs up entire task configuration to a .DAT or .TXT file. Allows migration of schedules between computers, restoration of backups, or distribution of standardized configurations in corporate environments.
  • Detailed Execution Logging. Stores start time, end time, errors, and warnings for every task in a plain text log file. Includes timestamp, result, and exit code. Helps audit failures and verify correct automated operation.

Development of System Scheduler began in 2001 when Splinterware Pty Ltd, based in Australia, released the first stable version. The program was originally created to replace the limited task scheduler in Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Lead developers are software engineers David Baldwin and the Splinterware team. System Scheduler is written in Delphi (Object Pascal) for its classic editions, while recent versions incorporate C++ components for low‑level monitoring modules.
