  • Copy only new or modified files. Copies only files added or edited since the last operation. Copywhiz compares modification timestamps with the destination and transfers only changed items, avoiding rewriting identical files. This reduces time for incremental backups and daily synchronization tasks.
  • Filter by file extension and name pattern. Includes or excludes files based on extensions (.jpg, .docx, .log) or name patterns. For example, copy only files containing the word "report" with .xlsx extension while ignoring others. Provides granular control over heterogeneous data sets.
  • Filter by file size. Sets minimum or maximum size limits for files to be processed. Exclude any file larger than 100 MB to avoid slow transfers, or copy only documents smaller than 500 KB. Copywhiz evaluates byte size before each copy or move operation.
  • Manual exclusion of specific folders. During source selection, user marks folders to exclude from copying. Copywhiz ignores those full paths even if they contain files matching other filters. Prevents copying temporary directories, caches, or unwanted system folders.
  • Collect and paste from multiple different folders. Select files scattered across different locations, accumulate them in Copywhiz memory, and paste all together into a single destination. No need to move files to a common folder first. The tool maintains a source list and transfers them in one consolidated operation.
  • Simultaneous copy to multiple destination folders. Same set of files copies to two or more destination paths at once. Copywhiz accepts a list of directories including local drives, USB drives, or remote network locations. Each destination receives all files according to active filter rules.
  • Copy folder structure without files. Duplicates only the source directory tree to the destination without transferring any files. All empty subdirectories are recreated with original names and hierarchy. Necessary for preparing work environments or replicating organization schemes without consuming space with data.
  • Copy files while stripping source folders. Extracts only files from a folder structure and pastes them directly into the destination root, discarding all intermediate subdirectories. For example, files located in "FolderA\SubfolderB\document.txt" appear at "Destination\document.txt". Original hierarchy is completely discarded.
  • Do not keep empty folders after copying. When copying with selective filters, some source folders may become empty. Copywhiz can automatically delete those empty directories at the destination, keeping only folders that contain at least one copied file. Cleans the resulting structure from unnecessary items.
  • Replace locked files on system reboot. When a destination file is in use by another process (locked file), Copywhiz schedules its replacement for the next Windows restart. The operation registers with Task Scheduler and executes before conflicting applications load, ensuring system files or in-use program files get updated.
  • Auto-skip duplicate files with identical content. Before copying, Copywhiz compares hash or size and timestamp metadata between source and destination. If the destination file is exactly identical to source (same content, not just name), copy is skipped and next item proceeds. Prevents unnecessary overwrites and accelerates redundant data backups.
  • Auto-rename duplicate files with matching names. If destination already has a file with the same name as source, Copywhiz can add a numeric suffix (e.g., "document (1).pdf") instead of overwriting or canceling. User defines renaming pattern. Maintains both versions without manual intervention.
  • Auto-organize by file attributes (date, extension, etc.). Copywhiz can move or copy files to dynamic subfolders based on properties such as modification year, file type, or extension. For example, all .jpg files copy to "Images\2025\" while .docx files go to "Documents\2025\". Structure generates at destination according to user-defined rules.
  • Auto-organize by MP3 metadata (album, artist, genre). For MP3 audio files, Copywhiz reads ID3 tags and automatically creates destination folders using fields such as "Artist\Album\" or "Genre\Artist\". Organizes complete music libraries without specialized software, transferring each song to correct location based on internal metadata.
  • Reverse sync with deletion at destination. When copying from source to destination, Copywhiz can delete from destination any file that no longer exists in source. Maintains exact mirrors (one-way synchronization), useful for backups where destination folder must precisely reflect source including deletions.
  • Data integrity verification via checksum after copy. After transfer completes, Copywhiz calculates hash (CRC32 or similar) for each copied file and compares with original file. If checksums do not match, error is reported and copy can be retried. Guarantees destination data is bit-for-bit identical to source.
  • Copy files to every subfolder inside destination. Instead of pasting only to destination root, Copywhiz can insert the same files into every subdirectory present inside destination. For example, if destination contains folders "A", "B", and "C", files copy into A, into B, and into C simultaneously. Suitable for deploying configuration files or templates across pre-existing structures.
  • Copy files to subfolders with specific name inside destination. Similar to previous function but restricted to subfolders whose name matches a given pattern. Copywhiz searches destination for all folders named, for example, "Backup" or "Temp", and copies files exclusively into those matches. Other subfolders receive no data.
  • Filter by age (files created/modified/accessed in last X days). Copies only files whose creation date, last modification date, or last access date falls within a specified number of days from current date. For example, copy documents modified in the last 3 days. This temporal filter avoids transferring historical data and concentrates operation on recent files.

Copywhiz is developed by Conceptworld, a company founded by Kushal Gajjar and based in India. The first version of Copywhiz was released in 2012 as a specialized tool to improve Windows Explorer copy capabilities. The software is written in C++ combined with .NET Framework for Windows shell integration and context menu handling. Conceptworld has maintained periodic updates for over a decade, adding features such as MP3 metadata filtering, checksum verification, and support for third-party file managers including Total Commander and XYplorer.
