• Cut and paste with standard shortcuts. Trove implements Cmd+X and Cmd+V to move files and folders, a behavior absent in the Finder. The clipboard maintains the original paths and the operation is confirmed via the system file interface.
• Tabbed interface. Each window supports multiple independent tabs. Tabs are created and closed with Cmd+T and Cmd+W, and each maintains its own navigation history and view settings.
• Recursive tree view. The sidebar shows a dynamically expanding directory hierarchy. The active node is highlighted, and the tree automatically scrolls to the user's current location.
• Drag with contextual menu. When dragging a file with the right button while holding Option, a native menu pops up with explicit Copy here or Move here options. It emulates the behavior of the Windows shell.
• Integrated macOS Quick Look. Selecting any file and pressing the spacebar invokes Quick Look. Documents, images, and videos are displayed using the system's native preview framework.
• Support for external volumes and network. Mounted drives, removable disks, and network servers appear in the sidebar with dedicated eject buttons. Read/write operations on these volumes correctly handle macOS permissions.
• Multiple file panels per window. Each tab can be split into two or four panels. Panels operate concurrently, each with its own display mode (grid, list, or gallery), navigation history, and independent undo/redo buffer.
• Intelligent conflict resolution. During copies or moves that generate name collisions, Trove presents a dialog with four actions: Skip, Replace, Merge folders, or Keep both files. The Merge option combines directory contents without overwriting non-duplicate files.
• Configurable thumbnails. The preview engine generates thumbnails for PDFs, source code, vector files, and media. The user can adjust the quality, maximum size, and cache format of thumbnails.
• Advanced file search. The search field filters the current directory in real-time using Spotlight metadata and filename. The search traverses subfolders and displays full paths in the results.
• Full undo and redo. All rename, delete, copy, and move operations are reversible with Cmd+Z (undo) and Cmd+Y (redo). The action history is preserved per tab.
• Customizable home folder. In preferences, you can define which location new windows open: desktop, documents, user folder, or last visited path. It can also restore the set of tabs from the previous session.
• Extended keyboard shortcuts. Delete key goes back one folder; Enter opens or navigates to the selection; Cmd+Shift+. toggles the visibility of hidden files; Shift+Delete immediately deletes without sending to Trash.
• Localization and dark mode. The interface is presented in more than ten languages, with dynamic adaptation to macOS's light or dark appearance. Translations cover all menus, dialogs, and labels of the application.

Development of Trove File Explorer began in 2021 by an independent team with prior experience in macOS productivity tools. The application is written entirely in SwiftUI, ensuring low energy consumption and full integration with Apple technologies.
