Changelog

Version: 4.10.0
  1. Mind maps: you can now create independent trees, duplicate entire branches and copy or paste nodes natively, keeping properties and internal links, assigning fresh IDs, showing the selection and undoing everything in a single step.
  2. Node context menus gain recursive Expand All and Collapse All (read-only maps included), Copy and Paste placed right under node creation, icon and tag inputs, and Copy Link for node URLs.
  3. A new layout menu remembers your default layout, and sections can be numbered automatically using the same pattern as the shared editor.
  4. Images and hyperlinks can be inserted from the clipboard, by drag and drop, from the toolbar or the context menu through shared dialogs; multi-item batches go in as one undoable command, and the unused Title field is hidden when inserting mind-map images.
  5. Inline editing opens with a double-click on a topic label or on empty node space, even for empty topics, without getting in the way of images or the expand and collapse controls.
  6. Rapid repeated clicks to expand or collapse are now honored, and hover feedback stays visible under a stationary pointer, including in read-only maps.
  7. Emoji picker: 173 curated emoji for productivity, projects, diary, office and engineering come first (numbered keycaps 0-10 included), while the full Unicode catalog and its category order remain; search keywords and theme-aware highlights were added.
  8. Shortcuts Help can be opened from node and empty-space context menus, displays its configured shortcut and gives clearer overlay instructions with key bindings in bold.
  9. Mind maps can be exported as readable Markdown, native HTML (selectable node text and inline SVG connectors) or PDF, with independent trees and the heading structure of peer roots preserved.
  10. The HTML export shows the full-width map at natural size, with topic links leading to continuous articles that gather notes, images, icons, tags and links; the PDF fits the map on the first page and keeps the articles readable on the following ones.
  11. Current Buffer exports use the live editor snapshot, while Current Note and batch exports read the contents on disk; PDF printing waits for images and fonts, and rendering, timeout and output failures are reported.
  12. Images open in read-only tabs, and image file associations can be managed in Settings.
  13. Markdown and mind-map images are viewed in overlays with zoom, pan and reset-to-fit controls; read-only maps are supported, and protected image previews close when notes get locked.
  14. Cross-copy to WeChat and Evernote embeds local images, rasterizes SVG graphs and MathJax, and renders complete KaTeX formulas with embedded fonts and crisp high-DPI output.
  15. Returning from Markdown read mode keeps the edit cursor and selection whenever the mapped position is already visible, and the read-mode context menu now offers Select All.
  16. Self-contained encrypted notes: newly encrypted notes and backups (v2 .vne) carry their own wrapped keys instead of relying on a shared notebook vault.
  17. Legacy notes and backups are migrated when opened with write access, without rewriting encrypted payloads; opening them read-only leaves files untouched, shared master-password unlocking still works, and old vaults are kept for unmigrated notes and historical copies. Older VNote versions cannot read v2 encrypted notes.
  18. Fixed encrypted notes silently failing to open during notebook maintenance; self-contained notes no longer need a migration lease, and protected-open errors now reach the unlock UI.
  19. Markdown read zoom, shared text-editor zoom and mind-map fixed or Fit zoom are stored in session state; redundant zoom controls were removed from Settings, and whole percentages are shown without lowering the real mind-map zoom precision.
  20. The sizes of the Comments and Tools docks are remembered across editor switches and restarts, and the View and Settings menus in the main toolbar are icon-only.
  21. Closing a detached window now closes its tabs rather than moving them back to the main window.
  22. Properties displays note sizes in human-friendly units.
  23. Scan removes obsolete attachment entries after external renames or deletions, even if no new files turn up, and the Scan tooltip is back.
  24. In the Lucius theme, tree selections stay distinct from hover highlights when unfocused, and text selection remains visible while hovering over inputs and spin boxes.
  25. New testing-only option, --no-single-instance, bypasses the instance lock and IPC; use a separate disposable portable profile and test data, since configuration and notebooks are not isolated.
  26. Fixed libgit2 runtime consistency, along with regression fixtures for encrypted notes, the sync dialog and mind-map integration.
  27. Translations updated for Simplified Chinese (zh_CN), Japanese (ja) and Korean (ko).
