  • Integrated editing interface. The text editor within the program allows modifying content without external applications. Text, font size, and colors can be changed. Modifications are saved in the project file.
  • Support for multiple formats. FreeShow imports PDF files, plain text files, and images. Each format is displayed correctly on the projection screen. PDF files maintain their original formatting.
  • Preview and presentation view. The screen is split into an editing view and an output view. The presenter sees notes and the next slide. The projection screen shows only the main content to the audience.
  • Control with hotkeys. Navigation between slides is done using keyboard keys. Arrow keys move forward and backward. The spacebar activates the next slide.
  • Text search. The search function locates words within the project. Results are displayed in a list. Selecting a result jumps the presentation to that slide.
  • Predefined templates. Includes templates for different types of meetings. Templates have preconfigured layouts and styles. They are applied to the current project with one click.
  • Multi-screen mode. Configuration for systems with two or more monitors. One monitor is assigned for the presenter and another for the audience. Settings are adjusted in the display parameters.
  • Playlists. Creation of presentation sequences for an event. Playlists organize the order of songs or texts. The transition between items is automatic.
  • Remote control from phone. Using a mobile device as a presentation controller. The phone connects to the application via the local network. Slides can be changed from the phone.
  • Project export. Save the presentation to a portable file. The exported file contains all media and fonts. It opens in another installation of FreeShow.
  • Transition settings. Visual effects between slides. Effects include fade, slide, and appear. Transition duration is configurable.
  • Clock synchronization. Displays a clock on the presenter's screen. The clock helps manage meeting timing. An alarm sounds when the set time is reached.

The development history of FreeShow began in 2018. The program was created by developers who needed a solution for text presentations. The application is written in JavaScript using the Electron framework. The source code is available on the GitHub platform. The main developers are volunteers who maintain the project.
